One game for the Nintendo DS that I think will fit in nicely with my fitness revolution plan - that is to lose weight by playing video games - is My Weight Loss Coach.

Apparently you can keep track of your activity with it. It even comes with a pedometer that makes it easy to transport data to the game. I’m not sure if you can keep track of food intake or diet pills supplements with it as I have yet to play it. But it could be a cool portable companion to help keep track of physical activity.

There is also a Yoga game for the DS that could be interesting. It’s just hard to imagine trying to decipher Yoga poses on a 3 inch screen. Still it’s nice to see more fitness-minded games coming on the market for just all platforms.

I haven’t thinned out our video games in about a year, so we are getting a nice pile of them that we rarely play. Usually I just sell them on eBay for a few pennies but am thinking of trying something different this time.

After reading about Swaptree.com, I might try trading them there for some games I really want. Swaptree.com is a place where people can swap DVDs, books, and video games. Make your want list and then make your have list. Swaptree will then cross-reference the two to see if you have anything that someone has on their list.

I’m still not too sure about it. I had tried some other swap meet website and was disappointed. If I don’t do the swaps, then I’ll just sell on eBay and buy used games.

My husband brought home some old office supplies that included a roll of blank Dymo labels. At first I had wondered just what we could use them for, but I found them to be very handy for organization.

They are the perfect size to write the content of storage boxes. This is handy when we are storing old video games and then have the urge to play. It makes it easy to find the right box at a glance if they are labeled properly.

They are also good to label bookshelves, baskets, and any where else you might be storing stuff. It makes me feel a lot better when things are in their proper place and with labels it is clear where that proper place is for our stuff.

Hell’s Kitchen the reality TV show might be mildly entertaining but a casual game based on it just seems like a recipe for disaster. Or maybe that’s the point? The show puts chefs to the test in Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen. I’ve watched the show maybe once. I remember a lot of crying and a lot of yelling. Not what I would call must see TV. So, even though I’m a reality TV fan, I have to pass on this one.

And most likely I will pass on the casual game, too. I’m sure if I can’t stand to watch the show then I’m sure I wouldn’t much care for the casual game.

Still, for those who like the show or are fans of these type of mini-game casual games, then this might be fun for you. But with a demo download of 77 MB at Big Fish Games, it’s not for me on my Fair Use satellite Internet.

It seems there are a lot more stores that cater to kids than when I was young. One of the digital signage billboards in town advertises a local make your own pottery place that is having a summer kids camp. There are also several gyms and other centers that are just for kids. In fact, there is even a store that is made just for kids to learn to cook. None of these places existed when I was a kid. What did my mom do to keep me entertained?

I have to admit that as a new parent I’m intrigued by all of it and want to experience it. It’ll be nice to the kid, too. I guess. If she even gets anything out of places like this. But I do feel that some of these are definitely catering more to adults than to kids. It seems to be working as they are still in business.

Hopefully they will bring around when Rae is actually old enough to enjoy their services. Maybe the novelty will last for at least that long.

I really need some workout shoes as mine has holes in them. Ecco shoes has one pair of athletic shoes but they do look comfortable. I would love to find a pair of shoes like the ones I already have that are falling apart. They really are comfortable.

Besides shoes, I really need some workout clothing. Maybe if I dress the part then I will want to workout longer. You know, like some sort of mind game I can play on myself.

Maybe I won’t have to wait my longer for Wii Fit. I’m ready to play now.

It looks like we’ll be either heading to the zoo or the movies this weekend for some summer fun. It just depends on the weather. Right now it is raining, so I’m not sure what the weather will be like tomorrow. Either way it should be fun. The zoo is always interesting and a movie is always entertaining.

My most recent casual game download to try is Dairy Dash. I was very excited since it is a spinoff of Diner Dash. I enjoyed Wedding Dash and have noticed that Wedding Dash 2 is now out. That will be my next download. Dairy Dash was OK. It’s not as fast pace as the diner. Maybe the levels increase the complexity but the first few rounds were lackluster to me. It will be hard to get motivated to play it again.

I have two Big Fish game credits, so I need to find something. I just hate having those sit in my account. Maybe I’ll at least spend one on some more weekend fun.

It seems all kids go through a stage where they love to dress up. Just look around at all the kids costumes that are sold throughout the year. Playing dress up is fun activity for kids that can keep them entertained for hours. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for costumes especially ones at a good price.

BuyCostumes.com has some incredible kids costumes like Uniqua from the Backyardigans. The Backyardigans are very popular with our 2 year old. It’d be fun for us all to dress up as our favorite Backyardigan for Halloween. This Halloween should be a lot of fun since she will be three and into it a lot more. So it does seem the perfect time to dress up as a family for this special Halloween.

Buy Costumes has many great kids Halloween costumes and adult costumes. They have an impressive selection of costumes that would be perfect to wear to a Renaissance Festival. I definitely want to dress up when we go to the Louisiana Ren Fest and with the good prices at Buy Costumes, it seems it would be easiest to buy what I want instead of having it made. I’m thinking of going as a wench, so there are plenty of costumes that would be perfect. With women, men and kids medieval costumes, I can find something for everyone. How fun that is going to be!

Yes, some kids definitely go through a stage where they love to dress up. However, there are some kids who never grow out of it. Here’s hoping I never get too old to play dress up.

As a casual gamer, I go through phases of playing 24/7 to not playing at all. I’m now in the not playing at all cycle. Sure, I could do links to new games at Big Fish but that’s why I have that set up in the Romperz Games section. So this is leaving me with no blogging inspiration.

I have decided to switch gears a little bit. I will still post about games from time to time but will concentrate on kids stuff like crafts, educational toys, etc. It’s already a topic I know something about and currently interested in.

This week look for posts on:
online coloring pages
Make your own play dough
Stuff your own animal

Summer is just beginning, so I hope to bring lots of good ideas to keep those kiddos entertained. Casual games will still be discussed but Romperz definitely needs some new life breathed into it. I think a change will be good.
