The Sims Hair

Games, PC Games No Comments »

There is one procedure that my husband will never need and that’s hair transplantation. He has thick hair and a head full of it. On the contrary, his best friend is going bald. He use to joke that he didn’t care what color his hair turned as long as it didn’t turn loose.

If only hair transplantation were as easy as it is in The Sims 2. Changing your Sims hair color real easy using the Sims 2 Body Shop. Simply make your changes to the hair color and export to the game. If I can figure out how to do this then anyone can. I haven’t played with the body shop lately. I’d like to delve further into its capabilities.

There are so many Sims fans websites that offer up Sim creations that if you don’t feel confident creating your own then you might can find what you are looking for on the web.

The Sims 2

Thanks to The Sims 2, I had a good idea of what my daughter would look like. Since The Sims 2 uses Sim DNA to determine physical traits in offspring, I was able to get a good idea of what our children would look like. Well, even without The Sims I would have a had a good idea since I remember a little about dominate genes from science class. It’s fun to create families in The Sims 2 and see what the kiddos look like.

It is interesting though to play the little one in The Sims 2 and watch her take her first steps, speak, and other developmental milestones. While she has reached plenty of those now, it was fun to play it out in The Sims 2 before it happened in real life. It was a great way to pass a little time and not get too involved in another project. I’ll have to start playing The Sims 2 again.

PC Solitaire

My husband has become obsessed with spider solitaire. Tonight he was saying how he needed to do some computer work. So, he cranks up the computer only to play spider solitaire for hours!

He had to take a break while we watched Drive on Fox’s website. He is now back at it though. I think once he wins a hand, he’ll be satisfied. He is like a man possessed. He could be playing Pirates!, Neverwinter Nights, or any of a slew of casual games we have. But there he sits playing solitaire.

It’s amazing what game will totally engross him at any given time.

The Sims 2 Celebration Stuff

Remember the good ole days when a lot of objects for the Sims were free? Now to get the really cool stuff, you have to buy the additions. Oh well, at least I’m saving bandwidth.

The latest object collection will be The Sims 2 Celebration Stuff. The Sims can now get everything they need for their swanky parties like centerpieces and other decorations. There is also new clothing like tuxedos and bridesmaid attire. Let’s see if Maxis can capture the hideousness that is the bridesmaid dress.

Also there are objects for fiestas and other outdoor parties. The Sims 2 Celebration Stuff will be available April 3rd.

Risk II at Yahoo! Games

The board game Risk was always a favorite game of ours to play when I was in college. It was so much fun. I haven’t played it in forever but when I found out that you can download a demo copy of Risk II, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to stroll down memory lane.

After playing Risk II, it reminds me how great this game really is. I may have to go buy the board game. No, wait. I already have it. I have the Lord of the Rings edition of Risk. Then why haven’t I been playing it? I really need to catalog my games sometime.

Risk II for the PC was a lot of fun. The graphics are cute, and I got some pretty good rolls while defending my territories. My strategy was bad going into the game. Next game I will know better.

The Sims 2 Open for Business

I received The Sims 2 Open for Business for Valentine’s Day. It’s the perfect gift as I’m a huge Sims fan and am so behind on expanions for The Sims 2.

Open for Business is one expansion that I really wanted as it is different than what was offered for the original Sims. I still want Pets, but I have played Unleashed so am not that excited by it.

Hopefully I can fight off this cold long enough to install the game and play some.

LAN Party

Ever since I first played Quake, I have wanted to host a LAN party. Playing head to head with friends on a closed network is a lot of fun. We use to play a lot at a local LAN gaming store. Sadly, they closed down and left us without a place to meet up with friends.

I have thought about hosting lan parties but several factors have been holding me back. The biggest challenge now is space. Our house is way too small to host a lan party. Even with us three at home it feels a little crowded so having friends over to game would really be a tight fit. I thought about renting a place to host one, but there are several costs to consider like the rental fee and the network capabilities of the building.

I would still like to take party in a LAN party or even host one. Now thanks to LanPartyMap.com I can locate local LAN parties that are in my area. A map is displayed that has virtual pushpins so it’s easy to spot where the games are taking place. The cool part is that I can see current and upcoming LAN parties. If I can get all the details worked out for hosting one, I can add my LAN party to the map, making it easier for local gamers to get in on the action.

Through LanPartyMap, I found a great LAN party that is coming up in a few months. Since it is relatively close to me, I can attend if I feel my frag skills are worthy enough to enter. I love playing games like Quake that allow me to blow off steam in a safe environment. Some games can get intense especially when you’ve been fragged so many times that you lost count. This is usually about the time I throw in the towel when I can’t seem to do anything right. I have to work on my frag skills before entering a LAN party, or I will surely be toast.

Brought to you by LanPartyMap.

The Apprentice

I’ve watched a couple of the new epsidodes of The Apprentice LA. I just can’t get into the show without Carolyn. I really miss her and have realized that I like her a lot more than the Donald.

So, I’ve been playing The Apprentice PC game that does have Carolyn in it. The game itself is made up of mini-games, and you face off with the computer. The losing team goes to the boardroom for another game. The winner doesn’t lose a member of their 5 member team.

I’ve noticed The Apprentice game is on sale. The graphics aren’t stellar, but the game is OK fun.

The Sims 2 Seasons

I’ve just finished watching the trailer for The Sims 2 Seasons. It looks really fun. I know I’m a huge Sims fans and think most anything Sim related is cool.

Living in the Deep South that it’ll be nice to experience the four seasons since we usually on have summer and two weeks worth of every other season - if that long. The video is at The Sims 2 offiicial website. I love in the trailer the Sim goes fishing and catches a boot, then mounts it on the wall.

The Sims 2 Seasons will be released at the end of February — my birthday month. This expansion is as good as mine.

The Sims 2 Revisited

I recently began playing The Sims 2 again. I have one expansion, University, and the Holiday Fun Stuff. I’m beginning a fresh game and populating one neighborhood that will be just our friends/family. So far, I only have myself and hubby created. I have plenty to do in game, but it feels so good to play again. With the holidays being so crazy, I didn’t get to play with the holiday fun stuff. I figure I will have to decorate with some of the Christmas decor and just leave it up. This will be true form for some friends. We had some friends who never took their artifical tree down.

I’m staying away from the money cheat and making my Sims earn their way in the world. It should be fun. I’d love to put together a Sim photo album in game and tell a story.
