Outgrowing Strollers

Posted on Jul 24, 2008 under Kids | No Comment

You know it’s kind of sad that they don’t make strollers for the 2-3 year old crowd. Rae will sometimes ride in her baby stroller. Those umbrella strollers just look uncomfortable so I carry around the huge one she has had since she was a baby. Too bad they don’t make a comfort toddler stroller because I would love to have one.

Rae will sometimes ride in the buggy. If she isn’t riding in the buggy, chances are pretty good that she wants me to carry her. By having a toddler stroller, she could ride and be comfortable. Hopefully there would be some entertainment that would keep her occupied. You know, stroller toys that are meant for toddlers. Now that would be cool. I think there is a market for these types of strollers. If they also have a bigger basket that I could put more groceries in would be a huge incentive to get one, too.

Favorite Toys

Raegan has her favorite toys that she loves to play with. Mostly they are stuffed animals but she rotates which ones she has to have every day.

Watching her play with her toys makes me remember my favorite toys from my childhood. Her toys are way cooler than mine, and she’s only 2! It is kind of fun to buy her new toys for both her and me to play with. It’s amazing what toys they have now and what they do. A great time to be a kid if you ask me.

It’s also nice that she cycles through playing with her toys, so even toys she hasn’t played with in weeks she might pick up tomorrow. It makes it really hard, though, to give away any since she might ask about them once they are gone. Still she has so many that it will be easy to distract her.

Kids Stores

It seems there are a lot more stores that cater to kids than when I was young. One of the digital signage billboards in town advertises a local make your own pottery place that is having a summer kids camp. There are also several gyms and other centers that are just for kids. In fact, there is even a store that is made just for kids to learn to cook. None of these places existed when I was a kid. What did my mom do to keep me entertained?

I have to admit that as a new parent I’m intrigued by all of it and want to experience it. It’ll be nice to the kid, too. I guess. If she even gets anything out of places like this. But I do feel that some of these are definitely catering more to adults than to kids. It seems to be working as they are still in business.

Hopefully they will bring around when Rae is actually old enough to enjoy their services. Maybe the novelty will last for at least that long.

Kids Costumes

It seems all kids go through a stage where they love to dress up. Just look around at all the kids costumes that are sold throughout the year. Playing dress up is fun activity for kids that can keep them entertained for hours. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for costumes especially ones at a good price.

BuyCostumes.com has some incredible kids costumes like Uniqua from the Backyardigans. The Backyardigans are very popular with our 2 year old. It’d be fun for us all to dress up as our favorite Backyardigan for Halloween. This Halloween should be a lot of fun since she will be three and into it a lot more. So it does seem the perfect time to dress up as a family for this special Halloween.

Buy Costumes has many great kids Halloween costumes and adult costumes. They have an impressive selection of costumes that would be perfect to wear to a Renaissance Festival. I definitely want to dress up when we go to the Louisiana Ren Fest and with the good prices at Buy Costumes, it seems it would be easiest to buy what I want instead of having it made. I’m thinking of going as a wench, so there are plenty of costumes that would be perfect. With women, men and kids medieval costumes, I can find something for everyone. How fun that is going to be!

Yes, some kids definitely go through a stage where they love to dress up. However, there are some kids who never grow out of it. Here’s hoping I never get too old to play dress up.
