Casual Games, Games No Comments »

Cinema Empire is a casual game that follows the tried and true sim game play. You will be in charge of your very own theatre that you want to grow into an empire. To do that will take focus, skill, and a head for the theatre business.

Cinema Empire looks to be a lot of fun especially to sim fans like me. I can’t wait to try this one out. Cinema Empire looks to have a mix of tycoon and sim style gaming.

Hidden Expedition: Everest

Casual Games, Games 1 Comment »

Hidden Expedition: Everest is a hidden object game where you are racing to the top of Everest. First, before making your climb, you must follow the clues that will lead you around the world to some of the world’s most exotic places.

Hidden Expedition: Everest is the follow-up to Hidden Expedition: Titanic. The game features real-time of Ed Viesturs’ footage of some of the world’s most dangerous summits.

In Everest, you are racing against three teams to reach the top first. Each scene features nine objects that must be found. You start off with three hints for each level. You can earn more hints by finding five hidden gems in each scene. Also gain extra time by finding the hourglass. Once all places on a level have been cleared, you will be either be presented with a puzzle to solve or another scene that features either 20 of the same items or find 3 of the same items 5 times.

During each scene, you can track your opponents’ progress. You don’t want to come in last, or you have to start the level over. Some scenes are repeated where you have to find different objects. These can go by fast since you have already spent some time staring at them. The gems are always in the same place, so it makes it a good way to get a free hint.

Everest is a very enjoyable hidden object game. It’s challenging enough to be fun without being impossible to finish.

Free Online Games

Games, Online Games No Comments »

Online games have become very popular in recent years. Technology has made it possible for more people to make games and for those games to be shared over the web. I’m always looking for free online games to give a try.

Alfy has plenty of free online games. Browse by categories to find something of interest. What particularly interested me about Alfy is the free online kids games. With a toddler who absolutely adores the computer, it’s always a good idea to have some games to keep her interested. While she is still a bit young to really get the game, the bright colors and mouse movement seem to grab her attention. Alfy’s other categories include another intriguing on called learning games that have educational value. I know that will come in handy once she is a little older.

Alfy not only has a wide selection of free online games for kids but has plenty to offer all ages. Puzzle games, mind games, and other online games can all be found at Alfy.com. Not sure what to play? Browse the categories and find out the top games for that category. Also read user reviews of online games or add your own thoughts.

Alfy has a nice, clean layout that is easily navigated. With a wide variety of both kids and educational online games, Alfy will probably be used a lot around here.

Sims 2 Tip

When designing a room, I always seem to forget lighting. I usually don’t put much thought into it obviously. Lighting can be a good way to add to the environment of a room, therefore keeping your Sims happy longer.

Personally I love chandeliers to add to my room score. Another good thing about hanging lighting is that it doesn’t take up floor space like floor lamps or table space like table lamps. Ceiling lighting is out of the Sims way.

If you are like me and think of lighting last when designing a Sims home, put the lighting on ceiling since it doesn’t interfere with the floor layout of the room.

LOST the Board Game

Board Games, Games No Comments »

My husband picked up LOST the game last week. I don’t know if we play or not. He liked it because it is about LOST. So, last night he finally opened the box and pulled out the instructions. The quick rules lasted for 8 pages! I don’t think he made it through the first page.

There was a nice Dharma coin in the box that he was smitten with, so if we never play the game at least he got a cool coin from the deal. We will probably play it though. Usually rules give a lot of examples of game play, so hopefully we can get the idea of the game without having to read through 8 pages of dry text.

Sports Video Games

Games No Comments »

I’ve never been much of a sports video gamer. Each year the sports games are updated to reflect players who have changed teams, new players, and to take advantage of the latest in gaming technology. I’d much rather buy St Louis Cardinals tickets than buy a baseball game to play the St. Louis Cardinals. There are many gamers who do love their sports games.

The good thing about sports games is that they drop in price. Games that are just a few years old you can find for a fraction of the price for same titles released that year. I’ve thought about picking up something like Madden NFL 2001 since it is just a few dollars at the game store just to give it a try. Besides playing baseball on the Wii, the last sports game I played was SNK Baseball for the NES. Maybe there is a pattern here. I’ll just stick with sport games that are meant for Nintendo consoles, and I should find it enjoyable.

Summer Lawn Games

While playing video games is a wonderful way to beat the heat this summer by staying indoors, it’s also important to get outside. Grab your sunshades and the sunscreen. Head outdoors to play some of these classic outdoor summer games.

Badminton is not only a lot of fun but can be great exercise. Think of tennis but not so serious. A basic badminton set usually comes with four rackets, net, and a few birdies, also called shuttlecocks. Set up the net in the backyard and have fun.

A Croquet set comes with croquet mallets, metal arches, and colorful balls. Set the metal arches around the playing area. Hit your ball with your mallet to knock it through the arch. Continue to hit the ball on your turn through the next gate.

Who doesn’t love the game of horseshoes? It’s the game where almost really does count for something. A set includes usually four horseshoes and two spikes. Place spikes in the ground, leaving about 12 inches of the spike exposed. Take turns to see who can ring the spike with their horseshoe or who can get the closest.

Frisbee Golf or disc golf is played with frisbees and baskets. Players try to make it through the playing area by tossing their disc into the basket. Just like in golf, the fewer number of tosses, the better your score.

Lawn games are a great way to get out and enjoy the summer. Give that trigger thumb a rest.
