Lost in Blue

As I was checking the upcoming releases for the Nintendo DS, I saw Lost in Blue 3. This is one series I have yet to play but would really like to.

When Lost in Blue was first released, I wanted to get it but like so many other games, I pushed it off until I forgot about it. Then I read that Lost in Blue 2 just wasn’t as good as the original, so it kind of discouraged me from even getting the first game.

Now with 3 on the horizon, I’m thinking that it might be the time to check into Lost in Blue. Now that I’ve waited two years to play it, I should be able to find it for a reasonable price just about anywhere.

Finally!

After weeks of searching, I have finally found Game Party for the Wii. It’s only a $20 game and features seven mini-games but must be extremely popular.

This game came out in November and since then I’ve been checking locally to find it. I finally spotted one copy at Best Buy tonight and quickly snatched it up. I had just checked Best Buy online today to see if it was in the store. Apparently it wasn’t. But a few hours later I found it in the store. I was almost ready to write Best Buy off as never having anything new for the Wii.

I can’t wait to play. It’s a little late to fire it up tonight as the little one believe she has the same bedtime as us. Well, maybe a few short games won’t hurt anyone.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast

One fun game for the Wii is Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. You take on other DK characters to try to win one of several racing cups. Each cup you win opens up more racing options and, sometimes, racers.

Each racing cup consists of a set number of tracks. You don’t have to finish each race first. You just have to win the cup, which means finishing first at least once or twice. You will also be graded on your performance. Scoring good grades will also open up additional parts of the game.

You start the game with a choice of many racers to choose from. Each one is graded in three categories: agility, speed, and boost. Along the track, you will pick up bananas. When you have 50, you gain a boost, which will rocket your racer forward. There are also objects to collect to help you along the way that include items to throw at your competition or extra bananas.

Barrel Blast is a blast to play. While it’s no Mario Kart, which isn’t due out for another two months for the Wii, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast is a very entertaining racing game.

Super Smash Bros Brawl

One title I’m looking forward to playing for the Wii is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is now available and there are a few people who have been looking forward to its release.

As with most new releases, I will probably not get it for at least a few months. I will just have to be content to read about other people’s experience with this fighting game that will feature several video game icons like Mario, Link, and Samus.

So far from what I’ve read, this game has been worth the wait. I can’t wait to give it a try.

Xbox

My husband finally plugged in his Xbox into our system. He hasn’t had it hooked up in months. Playing some of our Xbox games now will be like playing them for the first time.

I am glad he did it because he has said that he will be happy with an Xbox 360 Arcade, which doesn’t offer Xbox playback. So, now if he feels like playing a game on his Xbox he has is set up and ready to go.

We have a few games for the Xbox that we haven’t even played yet. Hubby took his Xbox to a local gaming store where it stayed for months. He finally brought it home about two months ago and just yesterday hooked it up to play.

Now to thumb through our collection to see if anything looks interesting to play this afternoon.

Wii Boogie

While at Best Buy tonight, Wii Boogie was playing on the Nintendo Wii and had my two-year-old mesmerized. I do have to admit that it made me want to break out my platform shoes and get down.

Wii Boogie is one of those games that interests me but with so many other music games, I wonder just how much it will stand out. Of course, the Wii version will no doubt make use of the Wii remote and therefore possibly more engaging.

It did have the little one enthralled, so it wouldn’t be a bad investment that’s for sure.

Wii Remote Control

This past weekend was the weekend where I finally became an owner of a Nintendo Wii!! *cheers* We are having a blast playing Wii Sports and Wii Play, dueling each other head to head in multi-player mode. There is only one problem: I need to buy one more Wii remote.

We have two since the Wii came with one and Wii Play came with one as well. But there is Rae who has to have a remote when we play. One of the reasons I was excited to get a Wii was that I knew game play on some games would be easy enough for my two-year-old to join in and not be a distraction. She actually scored some points on the Duck Hunt like game of Wii Play.

So the next time I’m at the store I hope I can remember to pick up her a Wii remote. Then we can all game together and not have to bribe one of the remotes away from her.

A New Toy

We finally have a Nintendo Wii! Hurray! I, of course, am thrilled since I’ve only wanted one forever. Watching my husband play is kind of funny. He didn’t just come out of drug rehab. Even if he is flailing his arms around and looks a little out of the ordinary. That’s how you play the game and is one of the reasons I wanted a Wii so badly.

I love that you can use the Wii remote in so many different ways to play games. Some games it is all about moving the Wii remote, not worrying about any button mashing at all. It will make for some interesting evenings that’s for sure.

The Plan

I have a plan to buy my husband a 360 for Christmas. I do plan to get the special Halo edition of the xbox 360, but it will take a lot of effort on my part. I think it’ll be worth it though.

To get a 360 plus the Halo game will be close to $500. That means that I need to make an extra $500 in the next month. If I keep myself on task and not get too distracted, I think I can do it. My part-time job will greatly help to make the money, too.

He’ll be very excited and although we will have a 360 before I have my Wii, I will try to not be too upset. I had thought about just giving him a Wii for Christmas but he really wants a 360. If I pull it off, it’s likely to be the best Christmas present ever. He’ll be totally surprised.
