Gaming at Home

Game Talk No Comments »

One type of game we seldom play is multi-player. We have one game that we do have two licenese for and that we bought specifically to play together. Sadly, we haven’t played yet. But at least our home network supports it so there’s no need to find used cisco equipment to bring our network up to par.

It would be fun to play together, so we may have to bust out the game we got. It’s Neverwinter Nights and I haven’t played it that much. What I have played I have enjoyed, and it would be fun to play cooperatively.

We might just have to do that this weekend since Fay will be bringing us a lot of rain and making it unpleasant to be out and about. We should have a weekly family game night as we all would enjoy it. Maybe we will have to implement that soon as I know my husband and Rae would love it. It’s a shame to have all these games and never play.

The New Living Room

Soon we will not have a couch, so we have been making plans for that space. It looks my dreams of home theater seating will have to wait since we just don’t have the room. Still there are a few ideas that we have bee kicking around.

One is to replace the couch with a recliner. That will give us two comfortable options to sit and watch TV. Rae has her own couch, so right now she doesn’t really need a spot to sit. So the recliners would be a good option since they would take us less room and free up more space. We had just thought about getting comfortable office chairs in lieu of a recliner since we mainly watch TV while on the computer.

Whatever we will choose, at least we will have more space in our living room, which will be great to give us room to play Rock Band and Wii Fit.

To the Beach!

Our weekend plans are to stay close to home since Fay is suppose to bring us a lot of much needed rain. I had thought it would be a good time to go to the beach since Rae talks about going to the beach all the time but has never been.

I had even looked into some cheap hotels to just make it a weekend adventure. Maybe after Labor Day and before it gets too cold we will head to the beach for some fun. Of course here in the south it really doesn’t get cool until December, so we do have plenty of time.

She has talked about the beach all summer long. Her cousins went to the beach Memorial Day weekend and since then she has wanted to go.

Until then she’ll just have to be content playing Dora Saves the Mermaids - which is set on a beach for the DS. Dora and friends help to clean up the beach to make it clean for the mermaids. If you can’t live the real adventure, then play it on a video game.

Big Fish Credits

I have bought enough Big Fish Game credits to meet the yearly rate to get the best rate on them. Now my account sits with three credits and there is nothing I want to buy. It’s once again time for us to do some budgeting and planning for the next month. I’m wondering if I should continue to be enrolled in the program since I can’t find any games I want.

But what keeps me a Big Fish member is that there is a new game everyday. So, even if there isn’t a game today I want, tomorrow’s game might be one I really want to give a try. So for now, the Big Fish club will stay in the budget. Besides I haven’t been through their list of games in a while, so something forgotten might stand out. I had really wanted to buy Wedding Dash but never did. Maybe now is the time to pick up a few casual games I’ve tried over the years.

Peggle Nights Release Date!

Peggle Nights now has an official release date! Good news is that it will be this summer. The bad news is that it’s at the very end of summer.

Peggle Nights will be September 16h, 2008. In the meantime, Popcap plans to have some fun events to for us anxious Peggle fans. There will be contests to win Peggle prizes and to learn more about the new game.

This is very good news for Peggle fans. I guess we’ll have to wait for more details but it should be fun!

The Race

One of my favorite TV shows is The Amazing Race, so when I saw The Race on Big Fish Games, I knew I wanted to give it a try.

The Race is a hidden object game where you travel the globe in search of everything from butterflies to frying pans to golf clubs. Leave no stone unturned as you race against other teams to find the list of objects and advance in the game.

As far as hidden objects games go, there might be better ones out there but The Race does have something to offer causal gamers especially those who are fans of reality TV. You can track you opponent’s progress and there is even a tool that will set back the closest team.

The Race is fun but it is strictly hidden object boards. There doesn’t seem to be any mini-games, which kind of make me sad as the whole race theme could lend itself to some fun ideas.

Game Money

I’m more inspired to write about games if I’m playing them. It is this reason that means that we must buy news games quite often. Or maybe that is just my reasoning behind it.

We might have to dip into our savings account to buy a new game console. I owe my husband a PSP and we want a PS3. Last year we got a Wii, so this year we will get a PlayStation game system. We’re just not sure which one.

Most likely it will be the PSP because of the games and movies. The movies will keep Rae entertained on short trips when we don’t feel like dragging the DVD player along. Plus it’s also nice to have a WIFI device just in case you want to check email.

It will be nice to play the PSP again. I imagine there are some really good games out by now for the system. We will have to do a little research to decide which games we want to get this year.

Olympics

Way Off Topic No Comments »

We haven’t watched much of the Olympics but hopefully we will catch some of the games this year.

My favorite events are the swimming ones followed by gymnastics. We need to check into tv lifts so that we can watch the games better on our TV. Right now we will just have to make do with what we have.

We missed the opening ceremonies that I heard were quite spectacular. Maybe we will catch it on the Internet since I am curious as to what they did. I remember watching the opening ceremonies for the 1996 games but that’s about it.

Still we’ll have two weeks of events, 24 hour coverage, and a slew of spinoff Internet site promotions. Should be a fun August.

Wii Fit update

I was so excited to get Wii Fit and I’m sad to say that I have played it very little. There just seems to be a ton of things going on right now that I just haven’t had time. But I need to get into the swing of exercising or checking out this list of best diet pills. I need to lose weight now.

Wii Fit is fun and doesn’t seem like ‘working out’ at all. It’s a very light workout but at least I’m moving and doing something. Now if I will only work out each day, I might begin to see some results.

The weather has been cooler the past few days, so the house isn’t nearly as hot as it usually is. We are starting a new bedtime routine tonight for the little one, so my evenings will mostly revolve around that for the time being. I will have to stop putting off doing things in the evening, like playing Wii Fit, and work on that during the day.

I just need a plan and to stick with it. Wii Fit is great fun. I just need to play more.

Gaming Room

For years I’ve wanted a dedicated gaming room for both video and board games. We just never have the room for it. When we build our home, this will be a priority that’s for sure.

One luxury we both want is theater seating in the game room. It would be great to blast the bad guys while sitting in a comfortable theater chair.

While we are still getting ready to build our home, we can plan out each room and what we would like. A game room with lots of shelves and maybe a small kitchen would be ideal. If you’re going to dream, dream big right?

Well we’ll be fortunate to have a gaming room at all. Still it is something needed and would be enjoyed by the whole family.
