Have you ever been to a rodeo? If you haven’t, then you need to make plans to go to one. It is a blast. I have only been to local ones but always had a great time.

My favorite events have to do with barrel racing. Of course, who doesn’t enjoy watching the bull riding with all it’s intensity? One thing about the rodeo that just blew my mind was that there was a band that actually played music during events. Someone had mentioned that it doesn’t bother the animals because during practice they play music to get the animals accustomed to the loud noise. And it worked because none of the horses or cows seemed to mind all the ruckus.

The National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada is the granddaddy of rodeos. It’s best to grab your National Final Rodeo tickets early for best seating because it is a very popular venue. This is the Super Bowl of rodeos and was established way back in the 1950s to determine the champions for the seven sports of rodeo: calf roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, and team roping.

Calf roping is my other favorite event. It’s fun to watch each contestant with their different techniques roping a calf. As the contest really gets going, it’s almost like you want to coach them on like “throw the rope! You’re wasting time! The other guy threw a lot sooner than this!”

One day I hope to make it to the big show. It’ll be an experience to remember forever.
