VC on the Wii

Console games No Comments »

So, we have spent about half of our Wii points from Christmas. I have bought a game and so has my husband. There are many more I want to get, so we will definitely be buying more points.

The virtual console is one of the cooler things about the Wii since you can play older games on it. You buy them with Wii points. Basically 100 Wii points is $1. Most games range from 500-1500 Wii points.

It’s been a fun way to grab a new game on a slow TV night and have some entertainment. Well worth the few dollars it costs for the games.

Do you enjoy those funny, short films that spread like wildfire through the Internet? Yeah, me too. Now soon the newest and best ones will be showcased.

BEFILM the Underground Film Festival will take place next month in New York City. The festival will be from April 28 - May 3.

Viral videos create buzz and interest in products, people, or really anything. Viral Film Festival was started in 2004 and was held in the art gallery of founder Laurence Asseraf. The festival continues to grow each year There will be a special “Viral Screening and Party” at The Dolby Screening Room, April 28th 2008 at 7PM. The deadline for submissions is March 29. While there is no limit on length the shorter the film is the better it will fit with the festival.

There will be limited space so those that are interested in attending should register as early as possible.

Guitar Hero on Tour for the DS

This summer you will be able to take the fun of Guitar Hero anywhere you want to go. The rumors are true. Guitar Hero on Tour for the DS is coming. From the video, it looks to have a controller that fits into the GBA slot plus a strap to hold the DS in the palm of your hand. You strum with the stylus while pressing the right color button at the same time.

It will be interesting to see the song list and just how well the music sounds on the small DS. Hopefully there will be a refreshed song list and not just a rehash of past GH songs.

Car Magnets

An idea I had this week to cheaply publicize my blogs is to get some magnets to place on my car. I had thought about making some small ones to stick on there for people to grab one if they would like. I would also like a flagship magnet for the website I want to promote.

I’ve used Vista Print before for business cards and was very pleased with the results. I hadn’t realized the Vista Print also does car magnets. You can use one of their templates or upload your own. I found one that was perfect for my Geeky Housewife blog:

As my two-year-old would say, ‘I love it!.’ It is very fetching and would certainly get noticed. That is not my number but if I did order this, I would have to think of a short, witty saying to put there.

Not only does Vista Print has business cards and rubber stamps, but now they offer car magnets. They even come in two sizes, small(11.25″ x 8.5″) and large(17.3″ x 11.25″). I’m excited about my car magnet idea for promoting my blog. With more people being having access to WIFI and the Internet through their phones, this could be a wonderful way to increase traffic.

Vista Print also sells t-shirts and pens, which both would be great promotional tools. If the car magnet idea works well, then I might have to further my marketing efforts.

Wits & Wagers coming to 360

Console games 2 Comments »

One of my favorite board games is coming to Xbox Live. Wits & Wagers is a party board game the is a combination of trivia and betting.

Each game is played in seven rounds with one question in each round. Each answer is a numerical one. Players write down their answer then answers are sorted onto what resembles a craps betting mat. Players then bet on which answer they believe to be the closest to the correct answer. Payout is made to the winner(s). The last round, players can bet all of their money. The person with the most money wins the game.

This should be a fun title for Xbox Live since it is a social game. The developers are also working on a Facebook and mobile version of Wits & Wagers.

Branson Fun

A few years ago, we went to Branson with some friends and had a great time. We didn’t see any of the shows of visit any of the many attractions. We did go shopping at one of the many outlet malls located there.

It would be wonderful to go back with our little girl Rae. Right now she is really into butterflies, and in Branson is the Butterfly Palace where all kinds of butterflies can be found. I can just imagine the wonderment in her eyes with seeing all the many different kind of butterflies.

Aside from the Butterfly Palace, Rae would love Silver Dollar City, which is a theme park located in Branson. Besides having 30 rides, local artisans show off their crafts at Silver Dollar City. So, it has rides for Rae and shopping for me.

With Branson Getaways, we can plan a custom vacation package to Branson. From which shows we want to see to attractions we don’t want to miss, we can build the package that best fits us. A little extra help when planning our next trip to Branson will be a welcomed change since there is so much to see and do.

It’s a trip that I look forward to us taking since Rae will surely love it.

Lost in Blue

As I was checking the upcoming releases for the Nintendo DS, I saw Lost in Blue 3. This is one series I have yet to play but would really like to.

When Lost in Blue was first released, I wanted to get it but like so many other games, I pushed it off until I forgot about it. Then I read that Lost in Blue 2 just wasn’t as good as the original, so it kind of discouraged me from even getting the first game.

Now with 3 on the horizon, I’m thinking that it might be the time to check into Lost in Blue. Now that I’ve waited two years to play it, I should be able to find it for a reasonable price just about anywhere.

A Watch for Him

Way Off Topic No Comments »

My husband has mentioned on more than on occasion that he would really like a kinetic watch. A kinetic watch is one that doesn’t need a battery but runs off the power generated from the motion when you wear it. Pretty neat, I think. Imagine never having to buy a battery ever again. He usually wears a watch for a few months and then may not wear it for six months, only to find it has a dead battery. With a kinetic watch he can pick up and wear it anything, knowing that it will work.

A Seiko watch could be just the thing since they do have several kinetic watches. One with a black face with a a stainless steel case is definitely his style.

Even though he says that you shouldn’t buy a loved one a watch, if I got him a Seiko kinetic watch he would approve.

Rock Band Drummer Career

Game Talk 1 Comment »

I started a new band on Rock Band today. They are called Donkey Sunday(pre-generated name) and I started out on the easy track since I’m playing drums.

I really haven’t had that much experience with the drums, so I want to start off slowly. I’m still getting used to the foot petal. Other than that, I’m really enjoying playing the drums.

Playing drums never interested me in high school. I was in band but played clarinet. Of course, drummers were always so cool and everyone liked them.

I haven’t gotten very far into the career track but think I will eventually get the hang of it. Well, at least I hope so.
