Gaming Time
Fitness Revolution December 29th, 2007So, in the new year I hope to drop a few pounds through playing video games like Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, etc. The idea is to be more active while playing and to actually burn a few calories. That means standing up and playing games, so playing games in the recliner will be a no no.
I will need to look up some information on how many calories are burned when at rest, asleep, and exercise. DDR will keep track of how many calories you are burning, so for less active games I will burn less calories. Hopefully I can guesstimate an amount that will be conservative but close to the actual calories that will be burned.
Before the new year gets here, it’s just another thing I need to do to make sure we get off on the right track with our weight loss plan.

I do a lot of Guitar Hero playing but have yet to drop a single pound. I might need to start hoppin’ around like David Lee Roth on crack to make this happen. I can’t see myself playing DDR because the last time I danced, Rappers Delight was a top ten hit.
Maybe the new Wii-Fit will be the answer.

Yeah I might be delusional to think I will lose weight playing GH. Oh it would be so sweet, though. Can’t wait for Wii-Fit.

Well, being on your feet rockin’ out certainly burns more calories then sitting on a couch holding a controller does. I’m hoping to get GH III this weekend even though most of the music isn’t my taste. GH: Rocks the Eighties is more my stuff.

So I picked up GHIII for the PS2 Friday night. It’s really unbalanced. The difficulty is all over the place, probably because of the extreme differences in music. I easily made 100% on most of the songs in easy mode, but once I moved to medium I found myself struggling even in some of the first songs. Harmonix, the makers of all the other Guitar Heroes seemed to understand how to balance the difficulty between the difference modes. Neversoft, who Activision brought in for the third installment doesn’t seem to have the experience Harmonix had. The animations are boring, the boss fights are lame and like I said, the difficulty is all over the place. By far, number 3 is the worse of series.
