Gift Idea for Gamers

Countdown to Christmas No Comments »

My husband wants a Bluetooth headset for gaming. Apparently a friend of ours has a set that he uses to play Guitar Hero after his wife goes to bed. This way he can enjoy his favorite game while not disturbing her.

My husband likes the Bluetooth technology since it’s wireless and therefore gives you must more freedom to roam around. I think he wouldn’t mind a headset for his phone either, but Santa can only fill one wish at a time. The gaming headset sounds like a great idea since my husband loves to play games and this way when I go to bed he can continue to play. So, it’s a gift for me as much as a gift for him, which are the best gifts of all.

Sims 2 Tip

One of the first appliances I buy my Sims is one of those espresso machines. Why? Because it can boost their energy level. Be warned, though, that drinking an espresso will mean a sooner trip to the restroom. With the Sims there was an espresso machine that was hacked. When downloaded and used by your Sim would max out all of their stats. So, it would take care of their hunger, social, and hygiene all with a single cup. It was a fun Sims cheat, especially when your Sim was low on just about every stat and no foreseeable way to get back into the green.

So, when you can afford it, buy an espresso machine for your Sims as it is a great energy boost especially when you are about to head to work or to a party. Watch the hygiene as drinking an espresso does a number on the Sims bladder.

Christmas List

Way Off Topic No Comments »

This year’s Christmas list is pretty slim. Last year I had a full list of items I wanted and got, well, pretty much everything on my list. I’m still thrilled with my gifts so much that not a lot has come out this year that I want.

There are some items that I could use like a truck toolbox and a truck bed liner. As I’ve gotten older, I don’t mind practical gifts or getting something that we need and calling it a Christmas gift. When I was a teenager, I could never understand getting someone an appliance for Christmas. Now I would be thrilled to be a dishwasher, refrigerator, or even something smaller like a mixer as a gift. I guess I am growing up.

This year I do want a digital picture frame as well as a radio/cd player that mounts under the kitchen cabinet. That’s about it for my list. I would like Carnival Games or EA Playground for the Wii. Such a simple list this year especially compared to last year’s list. I guess as I get older I’m just more satisfied with what I have.

New Year’s Resolution

Fitness Revolution 5 Comments »

My New Year’s resolution is to lose weight and to start exercising. I plan to do that through eating better and a combination of game play and traditional exercise. Wii Fit and Dance Dance Revolution will help burn calories through game play, but I will probably need to get some fitness equipment to take care of the traditional exercise part.

I think a treadmill is a must have as as well as an elliptical. It will probably take a few months to procure both of those items, so my workouts for the first few months of 2008 will mostly be through game play. I’m not complaining since it will mean playing more video games.

Hopefully we can have in place our home gym as soon as possible since it will help to switch up our workouts, which should mean that we won’t get burned out with doing just one thing.

Gaming Network

Our home network consists of three computers. Right now we use a simple router to connect them together. At work we used switches that are smarter than routers. While something like HDMI switches might be overkill for a home network, it could possibly be worth the investment.

We might be adding a fourth computer to our network this year. All of our computers have at least one casual game on them. A lot of casual games now have a multiplayer mode. We could play head-to-head in games like Diner Dash with a second copy of the game.

While we have never had much problem with our router, upgrading to a switch could be beneficial, especially with adding more devices to our network and more traffic with game play. It’s something for us to think about and research a little further before making a final decision.
