I have to admit that resource management games are not appealing to me; however, I was intrigued enough by Build-a-lot to give it a try. It may have something to do with that I originally thought it was more sim than resource management.
Even if Build a lot wasn’t the type of game I originally thought it was doesn’t mean that it isn’t fun to play. Each level you have housing goals to meet, whether it’s to build blueprints, own three Tudor homes, or have $10K in rental property. As long as you meet all of your goals before time expires, you move on to the next neighborhood.

You have to manage your resources well and make sure that your workers have enough supplies to make repairs and build houses. You can also train new workers, so you can accomplish more tasks at once. Also, you only have so long to meet all of your goals for a neighborhood. You have to juggle your income, supplies, and workers to meet your goals.

Each tab at the bottom of the playing screen shows different information. One will show your goals, another shows your workers, etc. You need to keep an eye on your materials and keep a nice supply. When you have the money, train new workers since it will help you do more at one time.
While it might not have been the type of game that I originally thought it was, Build-a-lot has been a great addition to our casual game library.
