The Arcade

While the local arcade isn’t nearly as impressive as it was in the 1980s, it’s still fun to go play video games there sometime. It’s great entertainment when the checking account is low on funds since most games cost only a quarter to play. The new games cost 50 cents. For $5 I can have a couple of hours worth of fun playing video games.

There is just something magical about playing a video game in the cabinet. Sure, I’ve played the same games at home but it just isn’t the same. Console games definitely don’t have as much appeal as their cabinet counterparts. Some games like Hydrothunder are fun to play at home but the arcade version is so much better. At home I don’t have a steering wheel and speakers in my chair with sound effects blaring so loud that they vibrate the seat.

The arcade definitely still has an appeal to me even if I’m an older gamer. I’ve learned that it’s fun to play video games at any age and what better place to play than the local arcade.

The Wii Workout

I kind of suspected that when I bought a Wii that I was really buying a piece of exercise equipment. Although it might be a light workout, I do move more playing the Wii than any other console we have.

In Wii Sports, I wind up to throw pitches and use my best bowling stance. Although I can’t play tennis in real life, I know how to swing, so I do my best backhand and other swings when playing tennis. It really does give maybe not an intense workout but is definitely burning more calories than if I just sat on the couch.

With Wii Fit on the horizon and Wii Boogie available now, there will be plenty of ways to get a good workout with the Wii. If I can make working out fun, then I might stick with it.

El Dorado Quest

The match 3 game play is the cornerstone of casual games. To me, this is the type of game that always came to mind first when I would hear the words ‘casual game.’ That’s why I’m always willing to play them especially when they involve finding treasure like gemstone jewelry.

El Dorado Quest is a casual game of the match 3 game play. Match three gems or more in a row to clear them from screen. While this type of game play is standard when it comes to casual games, I’m usually more moved to play the newer types of casual game styles like hidden object and time management. Every once in a while I do like to play this type of game. Next time that mood strikes, El Dorado will be the game I try. It does look enticing and fun. I may have to try it sooner than later.
