My Old Job

Way Off Topic 1 Comment »

I much prefer the pace of my new job compared to the one I had before Raegan. Of course I love working for myself since I can set my own hours. It’s stressful since it’s up to me to set goals and to hussle to make money. With my new job I will still be working for myself since it is only part-time. I really have enjoyed the change in my work since having Rae.

It’s so much nicer to work with content management systems than with healthcare management software. For one thing, it’s much easier to understand. With my old job the work wasn’t hard but it had to be precise.

I have thought about going back to my old job one day but now I’m not so sure. It’s so great to work part-time that I’m not sure if I ever want to work full-time again. I can make a little money plus have plenty of time to blog and play games. Also there is some time to play with Rae. Oh what a life.

Monopoly at McDonalds

Board Games 1 Comment »

I’ve been playing the Monopoly game at McDonalds online, thinking I might actually have a chance to win something. The first few rounds went well, and I quickly had 3 railroads. One more and I win. It hasn’t happened yet.

Now all of my rolls land me on spaces that I already own. It’s very frustrating, just like playing the regular McDonalds Monopoly game. I guess I will continue to play online although it takes a while for the website to work.

It would be nice to win some cash. I know my chances are slim but it’s free to dream.

A New Haircut

Fitness Revolution No Comments »

I got a new haircut recently that I really like. It’s shorter than I’ve had it in years. Now with this shorter hair comes a few problems that I didn’t foresee like my face looking a little bigger now. I’m not ready to to research Raleigh rhinoplasty nose surgery but am ready to start working on losing weight in my face.

I’m not sure exactly how to do that. I have to assume that once I start losing weight that the extra weight in my face will also melt away. It does seem that the face is one of the first places I notice weight loss. So hopefully soon I will begin to see a major difference in my facial appearance.

It’s just another incentive to get this extra weight off that’s for sure.

Kitchen Graveyard

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it brings to light just how in need I am of a new mixer. My current mixer is a Hamilton-Beach® and works great. My problem is that it currently resides in my kitchen graveyard. You probably have one, too. It’s the spot where you place appliances that no longer work or are missing parts. I’m missing the beaters to it that I’m hoping to one day find. I’m not holding out much hope though, so I’ve been looking for a replacement.

After 12 years of marriage and using a hand mixer, I think I’ve labored enough in the kitchen to deserve a stand mixer. Hamilton-Beach ® has a Eclectrics® Mixer that I simply adore. It’s sleek and comes in red. Besides it’s beautiful design, it’s very functional and comes with three mixing accessories. Sometimes a recipe calls for folding a mixture instead of beating. Having a variety of beaters means that I can just switch to a more appropriate one to carry out the task.

Yes, a Hamilton Beach® Mixer is definitely the stand mixer for me. My Mother-in-law had a stand mixer which was so handy. You can set it to do the mixing and then do something else. It really helps cut down food preparation time. Less time in the kitchen would mean more time to play games. We might could even start our own game night if dinner is ready at an earlier time.

A Hamilton Beach® Stand Mixer certainly would be beneficial to us. I had done some comparisons of other stand mixers to the Hamilton Beach® Eclectrics Mixer and found myself even more impressed with the design and function of it.

Once I have a new mixer, I can then retire my old one. Then it will be time to tackle another occupant of my kitchen graveyard.

Diner Dash PC vs DS

Casual Games 3 Comments »

Diner Dash is by far one of my favorite casual games. I have Spongebob Diner Dash 2 for the PC and Diner Dash for the Nintendo DS. While both games are fun and provide that great game play associated with the franchise, there are some differences between the two versions.

It should come to no surprise that the DS version is much easier to manage. Flo doesn’t have to run nearly as far to pick up orders, bus tables, etc. In fact, after playing the DS version and switching to the PC will make the game feel a little off pace. For speed junkies, Diner Dash for the DS will spoil you and make the PC version seem like a walk in the park. It’s very hard to go back to playing the PC onces you’ve experience the game play on the DS.

The PC has advantages, too, like better graphics, sound, and upgrade options. My favorite at the moment is the DS version but I’m sure with the limited upgrades that I will play the PC version for a longer time.

Air Guns Great Idea for Gamers

Game Talk 1 Comment »

I’ve blown away more zombies, vampires, and bad guys than I can remember. Of course, it’s all been in the context of a video game. Still, I think I’ve become a pretty good shot through my tenure as a gamer.

That’s why I think it would be fun to try out an air gun. While they are powerful and definitely not a toy, I like the idea of owning an air gun over a regular gun. Being in the country I can scare off small rodents with an air gun. The one I would like to own is the AVANTI 747 Triumph Match by Daisy. It’s apparently a good air gun if you are interested in shooting competitively, which as a gamer would be something I would definitely be interested in pursuing. It’s also a good ’starter’ air gun since it’s easy to handle.

When I get ready to buy, if I find a mistake on the website PyramydAir.com then I can receive a 5% coupon. If I put an air gun on my Christmas list, then maybe Santa will bring me one. If not I will have to conjure up my keen eye to see if I can spot a mistake.

PyramydAir.com has a wide selection of air guns as well as a help section that is very useful when deciding what type of air gun best suits your needs. Since I’m a novice, it is definitely helpful to read straightforward advice.

I have a feeling that I will alway be much better shooting zombies than I am at real target practice.

DS Games for Younger Kids - Crayola Treasure Adventures

My little one loves my Nintendo DS. In fact, I’ve decided to get her one for Christmas. She might be a little young for most of the games but one game she seems to get is Crayola Treasure Adventures. With it she can color drawings like cows and pigs. She loves using the stylus on the DS, so this game is perfect for her.

As she gets older, she can play some other features of this game like puzzle mode and connect the dots. It’s a cute little game that she enjoys now and will enjoy in the future. It’s great to see this game come to the DS since it is suited for very young children. Rae likes Mario but with this game she can do one of her favorite activities - color - and be more interacting with the DS.

Crayola Treasure Adventures is definitely a good game for younger, even future gamers.

Gaming and Exercising

Fitness Revolution No Comments »

I’ve been off track on my fitness revolution plan, which should come as no surprise. It seems it is so hard to get the ball rolling. Hopefully once it is finally in motion, it will be easier to maintain an active lifestyle.

So, I might as well set some fitness goals for each day. Maybe start out with 10 minutes of DDR each day this week. That should be easy enough to do. Then I will add to it once I get into a routine of doing something each day. Why are bad habits so easy to form but good ones are so hard? It just doesn’t seem fair. If only I could convince myself that exercising was bad for me then I’d be set.

Halo Edition 360

My husband really wants an Xbox 360 but her really wants the Halo edition. Since he has the regular Xbox Halo edition, it will fit in well with what he already has.

I had thought about getting him one for Christmas but not sure. Besides Halo, I’m not sure of what games he would like to play on it. There are probably several since his tastes in games different than mine. I like to watch Halo being played but not play it myself.

If I do get him one I think he will be surprised so all the more reason to do it. Time to check the budget to see if it is feasible. If only there was a price drop on the horizon.
