I’m Walking

Fitness Revolution No Comments »

I really wished I enjoyed walking for the sake of walking. I don’t, though. I’m hoping that by forcing myself to walk each day that a desire to walk will develop.

Saturday I have entered a fundraising walk. It will be good to walk with a lot of people. Too bad there isn’t something going on each weekend like this. I need to tie in my walking with gaming somehow. Maybe for every minute I walk I will allow that much uninterrupted game time the next day. I get Mommy guilt a lot when I play games, so I usually don’t play for that long. But if I have earned 20 minutes or an hour of time that I can take to play games, then maybe the guilt will be lessened. It’s worth giving a shot as I really need some sort of motivation to walk.

RC Toys

My brothers always loved remote controlled airplanes when they were teenagers. As adults, they still loved remote control airplanes and helicopters. In fact, my brother received a remote control helicopter a few years back for Christmas. He promptly went out to test it and then lost it in a field. Luckily my Dad was able to recover the helicopter a few days later.

Seeing all the fun remote control helicopters at HobbyWarehouse.com brings back that fun Christmas memory. You never get too old for remote control vehicles. In fact, the older I’ve gotten, the more expensive my remote control vehicles have become. What is truly get about the hobby is that you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a good time.

Since Christmas is fast approaching, I’m thinking it might be time for my brother to receive another remote control helicopter. With Hobby Warehouse, I can find the perfect one that fits my budget and will make a great gift. Besides I know he will simply love it, and it will be fun for the whole family as well.

Season Premiere of House

I caught the season premiere of House since this was one premiere I was really looking forward to. Last season, House lost his whole team. It was interesting to see just where the show was going to go now.

House is a very intriguing character since he really needs to undergo drug treatment for his addiction to pain meds and his way of solving cases is quite fun to watch.

I’m glad new episodes will be shown for a while. I saw the new cast photos and will be disappointed if they don’t bring back the actors who played his first team. I hope the new team is just to throw us off for a few episodes, then hopefully the show will return to the original cast.

Do It Yourself Projects

Way Off Topic No Comments »

We’ve been doing a lot of home improvement projects lately. It’s mainly been repairs from the former owner of our home. Some of our projects were more successful than others, and we’ve learned a lot from trial and error. A better way to have learned would have been to check out DoItYourself.com. You can learn all about projects from replacing floors to how to wire older home.

Our first attempt at painting was met with disaster. The color was uneven and took a few touch-ups to get the walls to look half-way decent. Still, it was a learning experience the hard way. Hopefully we will have a better technique next time and will seek out advice from the DoItYourself.com community. They have an active forum of people who are more than happy to share their tips and tricks.

Besides the active forum and over 100 articles on do-it-yourself projects, DoItYourself.com has a home improvement DVD that surely would have helped us in our projects because knowledge is power, you know.

I’m sure there will be plenty of more home improvement projects in our near future. We still aren’t finished painting and really need to build some sort of housing unit for our games and game consoles. Next time we decide to do a home improvement project, our first step will be to do some research on it that will begin at DoItYourself.com that’s for sure.

Pieceless Puzzle?!?

Games No Comments »

While a pieceless puzzle may not seem like much of a challenge, apparently you haven’t seen the latest puzzles from Ceaco. Take a look.

I’m enamored with them as we always lose puzzle pieces. Puzzles are great to have around the house, especially during bad weather and power outages. Working a puzzle can help pass the time and take your mind off the conditions outside. What’s great about a pieceless puzzle is that I now don’t have to worry about my two year old eating or losing a piece of the puzzle. Now we can work puzzles with her around without having to constantly shoo her away from lose pieces.

This is another one of those ideas that I wished I had thought of because I can see this becoming extremely popular.

My Gaming Small Business

Game Talk 2 Comments »

My dream job is to own a video game store. The local one in town really needs some competition, and I think I have some great ideas that would be well received in this area. Once Rae is back in school, hopefully I will be able to pursue my dream of owning a small business. I know from my parents’ business that there are a lot of factors to consider when you are your own boss.

My gaming store would have to have an online presence and online gaming. Because of my needs for data lines, I think for phone service that I would have to go with a VOIP system. It just makes sense to have my voice phone line tied into my Internet since really the Internet will be more vital to my business.

For my business VoIP I would chose Packet8.net’s plan Fax Metered Extension. The ability to reliably send faxes is important to any business but for mine it would be top priority since I may have to fax orders to some gaming companies. I’d like to carry a lot of indy titles, so these smaller gaming houses might have a simple fax ordering system. With this package, you get 300 minutes of outgoing faxes plus unlimited incoming. Unlimited incoming will be nice since most people will fax a confirmation of order.

Packet8 has several other options for small business VoIP each with their own advantages. It really just depends on the small business needs. There is one package that has a virtual attendant that allows a company to add several auto responses. This would be good for a place that gets a lot of calls and needs to filter out why they are calling to get the caller to the right department. Many of the plans are rich in options. It’s just that with my small business, I just need a basic plan since there won’t be many - if any - employees.

If you have a need for VoIP or want to learn more, check Packet8 out as they have a lot of information on their website.

New Shows Finally

Today is finally here! The season premiere of Heroes is tonight. It will be great to know what happened to the Peterelli brothers and just how is Hiro going to get back to present time.

Those are the two plots I’m most interested in. Of course with the “bomb” taking care of, what will be the plot that brings our heroes together?

I’m also looking forward to the new series Big Bang Theory. Some of the jokes on the previews are quite funny. Hopefully they will mostly be of that caliber and not cheap shots are geeks. Guess I’ll find out tonight. Premiere week is always the best.

Gossip Girl

While I’m not a gossip in real life, I have been known to spread a bit of gossip through my blog Romperz. Game gossip runs amock on the World Wide Web and some of it is too juicy to not to spread especially when rumors began floating around the next gen consoles and their features.

There’s a new show on the CW that really intrigues me since it reminds me of Beverly Hills 90210 but that takes advantage of the latest technology. It’s the Gossip Girl on The CW and follows the lives of two best friends and their mutual love interest who attend an elite academny in upstate New York. Add to that mix are two outsiders who don’t run in the same social circles as the three main characters but are nevertheless drawn into their lives.

Here is the really interesting part of the show. It is narrated by Gossip Girl, who runs a website where she blogs about her fellow classmates, hoping to stir the pot and cause tension. Gossip Girl also provides plenty of fuel for school rivals. But who is Gossip Girl and what really is her motivation behind her blog?

Gossip Girl should prove to have an interesting dynamic. I’m intrigued and will be tuning in to see what develops this fall.

Weekend Gaming Report

Game Talk No Comments »

It should come as no surprise that I didn’t get to play any of my downloaded demo casual games yesterday. There is just too much to do with trying to our new place in order. Sadly, there has been no time for gaming.

Today is a new day and again I will try to play at least one of the games. I’m hoping to play Darwin the Monkey since that intrigues me most. It should be an easy one to make time to play since it is on the laptop, so I can play it anywhere.

Hopefully once I do play I will have time to write a brief review. Now that I’m back online there is so much to catch up on. My husband did give me the go-ahead to buy a Wii this weekend. Well, he said I may want to buy one before he gets Halo 3 fever really bad. If I did buy a Wii right now that would just put me further behind on what needs to be done. So, that’s just more incentive to get caught up on what I need to do right now.

Morphing Photos

Way Off Topic No Comments »

You know they say that after being married to someone that you can begin to look like them. While I don’t see a resemblance between my husband and me, I have been asked before if we were brother and sister. Judge for yourself if we look alike with this photo I created with Morpheus Photo-Morpher.

The Morpheus Morphing Software was really easy to use. I created that morph in just a few minutes and have already thought of plenty other uses for the software. Rae will be two in October, so I’m thinking of a morph of her baby photos through each month of her life. It will really show how she is growing up, which makes this Mom a little sad but I’ll get over it. Morphing photos would also be a fun way to create practical jokes to email to friends like having your friend’s photo morph with an alien or their dog. It could create a few minutes of comedy and brighten their day. I also think the software would be cool for digital scrapbooks and to use for projects like birthday photo morphs or school day pictures.

Like I mentioned, it was really easy to use. I just browsed for my two photos and then added dots to the primary one. A matching dot was placed on the other photo. Then I could move the dots around to create the morph I wanted. There is a preview window to watch the morph, so you can see just how it will look before having to render the animation.

I see don’t see the resemblance between my husband and me. Maybe people think we look alike since they always see us together. Who knows. Morphing our photos with the Morpheus Morphing Software was fun and I can share it on MySpace, so that family and friends can judge for themselves if we in fact do favor one another.
