Morphing Photos

Way Off Topic No Comments »

You know they say that after being married to someone that you can begin to look like them. While I don’t see a resemblance between my husband and me, I have been asked before if we were brother and sister. Judge for yourself if we look alike with this photo I created with Morpheus Photo-Morpher.

The Morpheus Morphing Software was really easy to use. I created that morph in just a few minutes and have already thought of plenty other uses for the software. Rae will be two in October, so I’m thinking of a morph of her baby photos through each month of her life. It will really show how she is growing up, which makes this Mom a little sad but I’ll get over it. Morphing photos would also be a fun way to create practical jokes to email to friends like having your friend’s photo morph with an alien or their dog. It could create a few minutes of comedy and brighten their day. I also think the software would be cool for digital scrapbooks and to use for projects like birthday photo morphs or school day pictures.

Like I mentioned, it was really easy to use. I just browsed for my two photos and then added dots to the primary one. A matching dot was placed on the other photo. Then I could move the dots around to create the morph I wanted. There is a preview window to watch the morph, so you can see just how it will look before having to render the animation.

I see don’t see the resemblance between my husband and me. Maybe people think we look alike since they always see us together. Who knows. Morphing our photos with the Morpheus Morphing Software was fun and I can share it on MySpace, so that family and friends can judge for themselves if we in fact do favor one another.

New Season

Way Off Topic No Comments »

I wish the new season began tonight. I’m really looking forward to having some new television shows to watch. Tomorrow we are most looking forward to the season premiere of Heroes. Joe joked that he is going to take the day off from work so he’ll be ready.

So, only one more evening of reruns. Well, that isn’t totally true as the Power of Ten is new tonight. I am enjoying watching that show especially with Drew Carey as the host. It’s nice to see him on TV again. I wonder if the new season of Price is Right will begin tomorrow, too. I might just have to tune in to find out.

The first of the new season is always exciting as season finales are finally wrapped up. Then the shows fall into the same old pattern and then before you know it, it’s finale time again. At least there will be must see TV for a few weeks anyway.

The Game of Investing

I want to learn more about investing in the stock market in a safe environment where I don’t lose any money. That’s why I was so glad to learn about MyWallSt.net. Think of My Wall Street as a social network investing game. It’s free and easy to sign up. Best of all, MyWallSt.net rewards outstanding rookie players with real cash.

It’s called the rookie challenge and each week a rookie player wins the $1000 prize. Each player begins with a portfolio of $100,000 to invest how they so choose. The rookie player with the highest percentage gain in their portfolio is the week’s winner.

I will officially began playing tomorrow then the market is open again. Each day at the end of trading, stats are configured and are viewable in your profile so you can see exactly how you are doing. I’m looking forward to taking part in the rookie challenge not only for the chance to win some real cash but a chance to learn more about investing.

MyWallSt.net combines social networking and online gaming, taking real quotes of stocks and market values to make up game data. I love the social network aspect since you can view other people’s profiles and learn something about investing from your peers. I remember in high school playing the stock market game with pen and paper. Now this method is much cooler and easier. Best of all, it’s free and takes less than five minutes to sign up and confirm your account.

I can’t wait to get started. Hopefully I can take first place in the rookie challenge. If not, I hopefully will learn a little something about investing while playing the game.

3 Games to try Today

I have already downloaded two demo games to try today and will do a third. Hopefully between football, I will get to play. It is my goal to play all three today and then write about them either today or tomorrow. Here is my list:

Story of Fairy Place - Butterfly matching game

Darwin the Monkey - banana collecting game

Plant Tycoon - tycoon game I’m assuming about growing plants?

Most of these I know very little about at this moment. From the Big Fish toolbar, their title caught my attention, so I’ll start with them. Should be a fun gaming day.

Traveling Abroad

hotel.jpgI would love to travel to England one day since my great grandfather was from Wales, England. Since he left my great grandmother, not too much is known - or by some family members even cared - about where he was from. It’d be fun to go and seek out information in England about him.

If I do travel to Engand, I’d love to visit London and would hope that I could find good deals on London hotels so that I could plan a longer stay. Since I’m not from England, I will have to rely on websites like Cheaperthanhotels.co.uk to find great deals on hotels. Luckily at a glance, you can find out price and rating of each hotel listed on their website.

Not just London is listed there either. Edinburgh hotels are also listed on the website, which is nice since I’m not sure just where my trip to England will take me. I know I want to research my great grandfather, but I do have another tie to England as well.

My grandfather’s family name is of English heritage. There is even a place named in England. So, besides staying in London or Edinburgh, I may need to find a good deal for Glasgow hotels, too.

I have a lot to learn about England before I begin to plan my trip. At least with the web I can find the best deals on hotels and which places I must plan to visit. But really the whole trip will be learning about my family, which will hopefully fill in the genealogical gaps in the family tree.

Game Giveaway of the Day

Game Talk No Comments »

Since I have been offline, I haven’t been able to take advantage of the Game Giveaway of the Day. When I last visited the website, it was on hiatus for vacations. Now it seems to be back.

Today’s game, RIP 2, doesn’t really appeal to me as from a first glance it looks to be a shooter, not my favorite genre. The good thing about Game Giveaway of the Day is that you miss a game, check the website every day because they may offer it up again. I had gotten Funky Farm a while back, which I really enjoy, and see that it was offered again earlier this month.

The weekends are usually not their best offers, so be sure to check back on Monday with the site to see what they have in store for their visitors.
