College Days

Way Off Topic No Comments »

I never had bunk beds as a child but always wanted them. When I went away to college, I finally got to experience sleeping in one. I had the top bunk, which was great. It was like having reign over the entire 10 feet of dorm room living space.

Sometimes I miss those college days. It’s too bad that you can’t go back in time for a day every year and relive a day of your choice. The older I get, the more I agree with the saying “youth is wasted on the young.”

One thing I wouldn’t want to go back to is the older video game consoles. I remember having a Sega Genesis, which was great fun but you couldn’t save your progress in games. It made it extremely difficult to finish some games where you couldn’t save at all. Some games did have codes to unlock levels but it was always like 15 digits of letters and numbers. My PIN isn’t that complicated and it protects a lot more valuable information than unlocking game features.

I’d like to go back a day a year of my choosing but I’d have to take the next gen consoles with me. That’d make those college days even better.

Plant Tycoon

While I’m on dial up, I can’t download new casual games. That is if I could if I wanted it to take all day long. Soon we’ll have high speed again. Thank goodness.

One game I’m looking forward to trying is Plant Tycoon since it’s number one on the Big Fish toolbar list of downloaded games. I do really enjoy the tycoon games, so this one should be right up my favorite gaming genre alley.

I already have a game token for this month, so if I like it I can easily purchase it.

Games I’d rather not play..

Here are my top five games that I’d rather have a colon cleanse than have to play the game. Yes, I would rather have to go through an uncomfortable procedure than play these five games.

5. Bookworm. I use to love Bookworm but I noticed how small of a vocabulary I really have when I play. I feel accomplished when I find a four letter word. Bookworm makes me feel like I need to read a dictionary.

4. Myst. I just don’t get how Myst can be a fun game. Ok, so I’m suppose to “walk” around and solve puzzles? I just don’t get it.

3. Syberia. Syberia is another one of those walk around and solve puzzle games. Maybe I like my puzzle games simplified and these games just require too much thinking.

2. Civilization. Sometimes I curse the day Sid Meier created Civilization. My husband has loved this game for many years. It has cost me many a good night’s sleep, so I just can’t even bring myself to play it.

1. Halo. I am horrible at first person shooters, so I really suck at Halo. However, I do enjoy watching Halo being played by my husband. It’s just one of those games that I just can’t play.

There are probably more games I could add to the list but these are the ones that spring to mind.

Mario

After weeks, I’m finally making progress on Super Mario Brothers for the DS. I have just started level 6 after being on level 5 for months. In my defense, Rae does take the DS away from me a lot when I play, so it’s really hard to advance when I can only play about two minutes at a time.

I was playing yesterday when Rae took it from me again. Her dad traded her his DS so he could get mine. I thought he did this to give me back mine. Well, he began to play and said he was playing to get me back to where I was. Apparently Rae had turned off the game. 30 minutes later I still didn’t have my DS back.

Now my husband’s interest in Mario has returned. He has already beaten the game but has started a new game from the beginning. He is such a show off sometimes. He will probably finish a second time before I have made it through level 6. Hopefully I can get some playing time in this week.
