Culinary School

Our Mom’s group has a meal rotation plan for new Moms or for those who have a sick child. I’d love to volunteer to bring a meal to someone. The problem is I don’t really cook that much. I make a few recipes and that’s about it. I’d love to go to culinary school. Moving to Austin might be in our distant future, and I’ve found a culinary arts school - http://www.tca.edu/about-us.asp in Austin that really has me interested in taking a program to learn to cook better.

I’m not sure what local options I would have to find a culinary school. It might be worth checking into since I really would like to sharpen my cooking skills. If not, there is always that option when my husband gets a better job in a bigger city.

Memory Walk

After learning about the Memory Walk in our area that raises money for Alzheimer’s research, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. My grandmother suffered from Alzheimer’s for many years. It was hard on the whole family to watch this vibrant spirit wither into someone unrecognizable. Anything that I can do that might prevent some other family from having to experience this I will do.

The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk in my area will be in November, a few months away. I noticed there were only two teams in our area, so I decided to sign up as a team captain for our local Moms group. The Moms are all about community service and getting healthier, so this Memory Walk is a perfect way for us to do both.

The Memory Walk is in need of team captains nationwide. To sign up as a team captain does not take very long. Reading through the Team Captain kit will outline what is required and also goes over fundraising ideas.

Memory Walk

I already have a few ideas for our team like doing a team t-shirts. I also plan to ask for donations through one of my other websites that is geared to local attractions. Even though I’m walking in the Memory Walk, I do plan to sponsor another walker since it’s through her blog that I first learned of the Memory Walk. To sponsor a walker, just use the “find a walk” feature that will lead to the “sponsor participant” link.

Another Hot One

Game Talk No Comments »

It reached 101 today! It’s too hot to do much of anything, so we’ve been taking it easy inside and playing a little Guitar Hero II and trying out a few casual games. With our upcoming move there is so much to do like pack, purge, and plan. It’s been nice to take it easy today as it will be a different story tomorrow.

It’ll be time to seriously start plan out our move and go through things. So, I plan to play as much as I can today so I will have something to write about and have some games that I can play to relieve the stress of moving. Think I will stay away from time management games for sure until after our move as I need to work on my time management and not stress over in game management.
