Moving Issues Solved

Way Off Topic No Comments »

When you move, you have a ton of stuff that will not be coming with you to your new place. This will be especially true for us since we will be moving into a smaller home. So we will be having a rummage sale soon. I also found another way to get rid of our stuff, too. It’s called Listasaurus.com, and you can list your items for sale for free.

Ads are good for 30 days. Listasaurus also supports video classifieds, which I find extremely intriguing giving my video background. I have been wanting to do some video projects around the house for editing exercises. Now I can create videos of our items to sell. Using a video will help to attract more interest since sometimes pictures can hide details. You can use video to show all sides of a piece or show it in action. I’m also leery of buying electronics since I don’t know if they work or not. A video with me using an item would help to sell it.

Not only are listings free, but you can earn money through listing in certain categories. So, I can sell my stuff for free and get paid on top of that? Sounds like a great deal to me. Not only can I get rid of some our stuff we no longer use but I can’t get paid for it and rewarded with more money. Hopefully now that I’ve found a nice outlet for listing our stuff, someone will be in need of it.

Bookstories

Casual Games No Comments »

In Bookstories, you have to help the librarian build back the book collection after robbers clean out the library. This word challenge game gets progressively harder the further you go in the game. You can play in the more relaxed mode where the pressure is lessened to complete each challenge.

Bookstories looks fun. Word games are not my favorite genre of games. They are good to play since it can help with spelling and building up your vocabulary. I guess it just seems too educational for me to wholeheartedly get behind word games. (kidding) It’s probably more has to do with my inability to spell.

I may have to give it a try anyway. It’s a small demo download of less than 7 MB and is good for one free hour of game play.

Thoof - What’s in a Name?

Thoof is fast becoming one of my favorite websites for finding stories I am interested in on the web. It’s live Tivo for the Internet since Thoof examines past stories of interest to you and makes a determination of stories that you might find interesting. It’s nice to get personalized news that is just for me and centers around my interests.

But just what does Thoof mean? Thoof makes me think of the sound that happens when someone rolls off the bed. I’ve made this sound and have heard it on a couple of different occasions. The baby rolled off the bed a few nights ago. That was a rude awakening. A funnier time was when we were on our honeymoon and my husband dives onto the firm hotel bed and then bounces right off onto the floor.

Why name a website Thoof? I think rolling off the bed is such a common experience that we all can relate to it so why not name a social website it? It’s obvious that the folks behind Thoof were looking for a name that would stand out and have people guessing what the meaning is behind it all.

Thoof also reminds me of sleuth, which would make sense for a website that features nice finds on the web. Sleuth was probably taken, so go with the next best thing, Thoof.

Whatever their reasoning behind their name choice, I really like their service. And because of the unique name, it’s not likely I’ll forget Thoof anytime soon.

Halo 3 One Million Preorders

Do you think there are a few gamers looking forward to Halo 3? The latest figures released shows that one million North American gamers have preordered the game for the box 360, setting a new record.

My husband wants this and will be the reason we buy a 360. Halo is fun to play but also fun to watch. I enjoy watching my husband play probably more than playing since I’m rather bad at shooter games.

We haven’t preordered yet but will probably wait until it’s released.First order of business is the getting a Nintendo Wii.

Dragon Con Planning

We’re right in the middle of planning for our trip to Atlanta for Dragon Con. While it’s not our Florida vacation to Disney World, it’s the next best thing especially since we are both big gamers. There will be some great speakers at Dragon Con this year.

I’m most looking forward to seeing Gil Gerard from Buck Rogers and the 21st Century. I use to love that show and thought he was really good looking. I just hope I’m not too star struck and will be able to gather a lot of information.

We have decided not to take part in games that we can play at home but to branch out try new stuff. It’s always fun to learn but when you’re learning it can slow down a game. Hopefully there will be plenty of opportunity for new players, which i feel fairly certain there will be.

Once we get our hotel, tickets, and babysitter for the baby we will be almost prepared for the trip. That’s still a lot to do in just a few short weeks.
