Reality TV

Way Off Topic No Comments »

I enjoy reality TV but are the only people on these shows trying to further their career? Take Jen on Big Brother 8. They have said that she is a Nanny and give her that title, but when they show her family talking about her they say she is a model.

The guy who left Thursday night was apparently a model, too. I know they want pretty people on the show but geez, can we just have people on the show who want the just the money and not a career boost?

I guess it makes sense that those who are looking for a way into Hollywood might even make for better TV. It’s just a small irritation, though but one I’ve come to expect and shouldn’t be surprised about anymore.

Freeze It and Forget It

Oh the joys of beginning an exercise routine. The aches and sore muscles are too much to bear. It can really kill the momentum of any weight loss progress. I have begun to walk at least three times a week. While this is great exercise, my body is protesting, especially my right leg.

Cramps and pain abound in my right leg after a nice long walk. I usually take an ibuprofen and rub Freeze It on the sore muscle. Freeze It is a cream that can be used on sore muscles to alleviate pain and discomfort. It can also be used to relieve other pains like arthritis and strains. After walking, we went to the store in the car. While sitting down, I felt a muscle cramp in my leg. I rummaged through my purse to find my Freeze It.
Freeze It

I take this stuff everywhere because within a few seconds of applying it, my pain fades away. I opened the Freeze It and applied it to my leg. By the time we arrived at the store, I felt a lot better and was able to do my shopping pain free. Freeze It is all natural, which I like and goes on clean. One of it’s ingredients is aloe, hence it bright green color. After applying Freeze It, you will feel a cool sensation like it is freezing the pain, isolating it from the rest of your body.

Freeze It comes in two sizes and is reasonably priced especially considering just how little of this product you will need to use to feel results. There is the 4 ounce tube, where you can squeeze out the Freeze It to massage directly where it hurts. There is also a 3 ounce roll on version, which makes it super easy to apply.

After trying a bunch of different products for muscle strain relief, I have to rank Freeze It as my favorite simply because it goes on clean and works immediately. It also isn’t too strong where it works for a little bit then fades fast. I keep my Freeze It with me at all times because it works really well for muscle strain because it is non-greasy and does not have a loud smell. I can use it discreetly and not have to announce to everyone around me that I have aches and pains most likely caused by getting older.

Diet Revolution

Part of my overall weight loss plan includes eating healthier foods. I will also be exercising more whether it’s a Dance Dance Revolution workout, Yourself!fitness, or any number of activities I have planned to keep workouts different and fun. I’ve read about green tea health benefits and actually have some green tea in my kitchen. I just need to brew some and see if I like it or not. I do enjoy tea on occasion, so maybe I can reap some good things for drinking something I like.

It is hard to get in the routine of exercising. I’m a gamer and not much into physical activity. I have been doing well with walking but will soon have to step up my game to ensure weight loss success.

I do get a pseudo workout while playing Guitar Hero. I have to stand up to play and like to move around. When I play Karaoke Revolution I like to do my own dance steps, so that’s another light workout. I just need to add more things that I enjoy doing to my daily routine to burn more calories and lose weight. Right now I’m really determined, so hopefully I will stay this way.

Drew Carey New Host of the Price is Right

I’m so thrilled to have learned that Drew Carey will be the new host of The Price is Right. I am so looking forward to the Power of 10 just to see him on TV again. I think he is a great choice although some question have a comedian for hosting position.

I think that Drew will bring a lot to the Price is Right. I might start watching again. It’s addictive, though, because I have to watch the whole hour. I have to know what prizes are in the final showcase and if anybody wins.

Glad Drew is returning to a show that I know will be around for quite sometime.

Thoof - Get News of Interest

Way Off Topic No Comments »

Thoof is a website that is a mix of Digg and Wikipedia rolled into one. Users submit their stories like Digg and users can then edit those submitted stories - much like you can edit a wiki. What really sets Thoof apart though is that it remembers which new stories you found interesting and will show you stories that are of similar interest.

You can get a href=”http://thoof.com/m/NoARNhw2B8KLKA%3D%3D/thoof-redirect”>personalized news that has been submitted by other users, so it’s not just a random sample of like-minded stories. Someone found enough value in it to submit it in the first place.

Sign up for Thoof takes less than 5 minutes. Submitting a story is as easy a copying/pasting the link and adding a description plus tags. Once it’s submitted, you can add the ThoofRank badge to the post that will show the popularity of the posting on Thoof. Unlike Digg where stories to become popular must receive a huge amount of early votes, the ThoofRank system allows each article submitted to Thoof to get a fair chance to gain popularity. The people behind Thoof have made it hard to “game the system.” This is great for users who are looking for great stories on their own merit and not ones with a bunch of people voting for it.

Adding the ThoofRank badge is simple. Once you’ve submitted an article, you will be taken to the page with the Thoof badge once a story has been submitted. Simply copy the code and paste it into your post. It’s fast and it’s an easy way to promote your Thoof story. It doesn’t take long to submit stories to Thoof or to add the ThoofRank badge to my article. It’s a very straightforward process that by doing can ensure that more people will see those articles you are especially proud of.

Are left in the Benspark.com XShot contest. Voting ends at noon. So, far Raesmom - that’s me - is leading. The top three finishers get an XShot, so that is my real goal, not necessarily to finish first.

Thanks everyone who voted for me and if you can vote once more today I would appreciate it. The XShot is a handheld tripod that allows you to take better pictures of yourself. I want it to take pictures of me and my little girl together.

Thanks for all the support. I hope I can hang on for at least a third place finish.

New Kitchen

Our new place will have a bar, so I’m thinking we will not need our kitchen table and will put it in storage. One thing we will need is bar stools. I’ve learned enough about bar stools through having them when growing up to have an idea of what would work best and what won’t. The simpler, the better I believe.

Besides, we have grown so accustomed to eating sitting at the couch or in front of the computer that sitting at the bar will prove to be quite challenging. The stools will only be used on occasion, probably for extra seating and that’s it.

It’s just another thing on the every-growing to do list before we move. Hopefully next week we will start pushing some things though and get this thing started properly.

Radar Love

Our biggest problem with Guitar Hero Encore Rock the 80s is the song Radar Love. The original Radar Love was released by Golden Earring in 1973, so it really doesn’t qualify to an 80s edition. However, a cover of the song was released in the 1980s by White Lion. The song on GH 80s is a cover of White Lion’s cover of Radar Love, which means the version that I love is not on there.

It would have been nice to have the original Radar Love either on GH II or on Guitar Hero III. I do think it’s a good choice since it has some great guitar work, but for the 80s edition? There’s bound to be some songs that would have been a better fit. Still enjoy the 80s edition overall. This is just a minor complaint but I do love the original Radar Love and sad to see it brought the GH by a band that did a cover of the song and not the original artists.

Flip That House

One show that I really miss since we don’t have cable is Flip That House. It’s the show where people buy houses, then fix them up to sell within a short amount of time. They show people buying homes all over the place. Some places have higher values like Denver Colorado real estate is by far more valuable than Ellisville Mississippi real estate. That’s one good thing about living in the south is that the cost of living is much cheaper than some areas of the country.

I really do miss shows like that. There is that one and Flip This House, too. I also enjoy any kind of home improvement shows since it’s just fun to watch something that wasn’t so great get a face lift and look really spectacular afterwards. Since we will be saving money soon, we may have to add a cable TV bill to the monthly budget.

Old Costume Jewelry

Way Off Topic 1 Comment »

I absolutely adore old costume jewelry and have several pieces that I don’t wear that much anymore but still every once in a while pull out to admire. My dream job would be to repair old jewelry pieces and sell them. Until that time, I’m just happy browsing costume jewelry pieces in store and online.

Lang Antiques has some beautiful estate jewelry. Their jewelry is anything but costume but still fun to look at. Lang also has what they call Antique Jewelry University where people can learn more about the different decorative periods as well as everything you need to know about diamonds. It’s best to get an education about diamonds if you are in the market for one of Lang Antique’s Art Deco engagement rings that are just stunning.

Lang’s has been selling vintage jewelry for over 35 years and is located in San Francisco. Their online storefront features several beautiful pieces of jewelry. Just looking at the jewelry is its own antique education lesson. I can learn a lot from them which in turn might help me down the road when I have my own jewelry to sell.
