Scattergories
Board Games, Games April 23rd, 2007I remember playing Scattergories as a teenager at a camp-like function. It was so much fun. Recently I bought the game and had a lot of fun as I got to play again this weekend.
In Scattergories, each player writes down their answer to a list of 12 categories. A game consists of three rounds. There is a time, so you only have a minute or so to write down your answers. You score points when your answer is unique. If two players have the same word to the same category then they don’t score a point for that word.
Sounds easy enough, right? Well, here is the twist. Before each round one players roll a special 20 sided die that has 20 different letters. The letter that is rolled is key. The word must begin with that letter. It can be challenging when the letter is “R” and the category is “breakfast food.”
Scattergories is fun and easy to learn. It’s fast to play and is a great game to play with a lot of people.
