We have two cats, both are female. One of our cats stayed out one night and got pregnant. So, about two months later, she had a liter of kittens. They were 5 of the cutest kittens I’d ever seen. She seemed to be taking to motherhood pretty good as she was always with her kittens.
She did have complications. One of her mammary glands ruptured that led to an infection and open wound. We took her to the vet where they cleaned the wound and stitched her up. She wouldn’t be able to nurse anymore so we had to take on feeding the five kittens ourselves. My niece volunteered to take the kittens. Sadly none survived. We are thinking that they may have been born too early.
I wish there was something more we could have done to help our cat and her kittens. If she happens to get pregnant again, which we plan to get both cats spayed, we will probably at least take her once to the vet during her pregnancy to make sure everything is OK.
I’m sure living in our household is stressful to our cats, especially with an active toddler trying to tackle hug you at every chance she can get. Some cat anxiety medication might help to calm their frazzled nerves. They are really good with the baby, so I’d like to do what I can to make sure they are in good health.
We haven’t had to deal with feline ear infections, but we do have to deal with fleas. Fleas are a huge problem as it seems we get them under control, there is another outbreak. PetWellBeing.com has not only cat anxiety medications but flea control products. Fleas can lead to stress and anxiety in our cats. I surely don’t want them to have more stress than they already have.
The next cat pregnancy - if there is one- we will use cat vitamins. It will help the mommy cat get all the nutrients she needs. Plus it will give us peace of mind that we are doing all we can to ensure a good cat pregnancy. We suspect one of the problems with the kittens was they were born too early. If there is another cat pregnancy, we want to ensure a full-term cat pregnancy.
