Once upon a time, there lived a Fairy Godmother who had a monopoly on all of Fairy Tale land. This worked well for Fairy Godmother since she enjoyed making money. When competition moved in, Fairy Godmother’s potion business took a hit. Now, Fairy Godmother is looking for an apprentice to her rebuild her empire.

Fairy Godmother Tycoon is a new game from Pogo. It follows the format of Tycoon games. You set up your day for selling potions, then watch the town bustle with people and potential customers for your store.

Each day there are several tasks to take care of before the start of business like checking the news/weather forecast and stocking up on potion supplies. You begin the game knowing one potion: love potion 8. The news report will give a percentage of broken hearts for that day. The higher the percentage, the more business you are likely to do. There are ways to bring in more customers like marketing, hiring goons (street advertisement), or hiring freelancers to help with your business. One freelancer breaks the hearts of the residents while one elf freelancer will make up your love potions the night before, cutting down the wait time for your customers.

Fairy Godmother Tycoon is humorous and fun. The storyline is definitely worth reading through at the beginning of the game. The only Tycoon-type game I’ve ever enjoyed has been Rollercoaster Tycoon. Now I have another Tycoon title to add to my list.
