Promo Codes

I love a good bargain either in a brick and mortar store or an online store. Using a promo code can help you save a lot of money. Recently I saved a ton of money on web hosting by using a promo code. It just proves that you have to shop around to find the best deals.

One great source for promo codes and deals is Ebates.com. Ebates has been featured on several news stories and is fast becoming a must visit website before I buy anything on the web. You can get up to 25% cash back on some purchases through Ebates. You can also find coupons and other deals through them.

When you shop through Ebates, you are sure to save money, and who doesn’t like that.

Hocus Focus

Card Games No Comments »

Hocus Focus is a card game featuring wizards. The game tests how observant you are. Hocus Focus is a great game for younger kids.

Rows of wizards from the deck are laid onto a common playing area. Each player takes the top wizard from the deck and places it face up beside the deck. Next all players look for a wizard that is totally different from the flipped over wizard. Different body type, different color robes, wand, and shoes are all items that must be completely different from the flipped over wizard to score points.

If you have a good eye and want to test your skills, then check out Hocus Focus.

Dreamblade

Tonight I test out just how well I can play with my starter of Dreamblade figures. I haven’t bought any booster packs, so all I have is the starters. I’m curious as to how well I can play out of the box.

It seems I have a fairly even mix of the four types of Dreamblades. Having like-minded sanctions on the playing field reduces the spawning costs of bring other like-minded dreamblades into play. The games that I have played usually feature warbands with two sanctions. I will have to play all four to have the maximum number of figures in a warband.

If I can win one game or at least win a few rounds, then I shall claim it a success. The starter box is right at $30 with boosters coming in at around $15. It will take some budgeting to be able to add to my warband. Hopefully my starter will serve me well tonight.

Syberia 2 for the Pocket PC

The world of Syberia is full of mystery and intrigue. You embark on an adventure that will take you across beautiful landscapes while challenging your puzzle solving skills. In Syberia, you take on the role as American lawyer Kate Walker who has been sent to finalize the deal of a toy factory. She learns of the untimely demise of the toy factory owner and that she must embark on a quest to find the woman’s brother to proceed with the sale.

Syberia is a mystery solving puzzle game much like Myst. You walk around and solve puzzles. The graphics for this game are beautiful. I enjoyed playing it just for the scenery. Syberia 2 has since been released. In fact, this very stunning game has been released for the Pocket PC.

Clickgamer.com has the exclusive to the English version of Siberia 2 for the Pocket PC. In the sequel, you play Kate who joins an eccentric inventor on a quest to find prehistoric mammoths in the remote land of Syberia.

The screenshots taken of the handheld version are simply stunning. The graphics are top notch and are really something to behold.

Syberia 2 for the Pocket PC really showcases just how much graphical detail can be put into a PDA game. Syberia 2 makes a great addition to the handheld gaming world since it can show what just is available to put into a smaller-sized game.

Captain America

Captain America was my favorite playable character in Marvel Ultimate Alliance. He is very broken because he can lay the smackdown in melee and range with his shield.

I don’t read the Captain America comics but heard from my husband - who doesn’t read the comic either - that Captain America died in the latest one. I found a story on USA today about Captain America dying in the issue that came out Wednesday.

I know other superheroes have “died,” but this death sounds final. Time will only tell if Captain America stays dead or is miraculous brought back from the great beyond.

Marvel is working on a Captain America movie, so if he doesn’t return to the comic books, he will make an appearance on the big screen.

Virtual Villagers Revisited

Casual Games No Comments »

I finally installed Virtual Villagers The Lost Children and was able to play for a few minutes. I’m not sure I made it through the tutorial just yet as I’m still learning how to do things in the game.

It is kind of fun and very Sim-like, so that’s a plus. Villagers have to gather food and do other chores that you assign. Children are unskilled and is nearly impossible for them to do some tasks since they lose interest really fast.

I think it’ll be a lot of fun to play Virtual Villagers. Maybe next time I get a chance I can play it a little longer.
