Stroller Rain Covers

Way Off Topic No Comments »

There are a few accessories I really want for the baby stroller. I would like to have mountable speakers, a fan, and a stroller rain cover. I hate when we get caught in the rain. The umbrella doesn’t provide adequate coverage and neither does the small stroller shade. While the baby doesn’t mind getting wet, it can be a pain to have to go into a store with her when she has wet clothes. Sometimes we have a change of clothes and sometimes we do not.

Sashas Kiddie Products sells stroller rain covers for all types of strollers. These custom made rain covers will fit many stroller brands. This is one accessory that should come with the stroller if you ask me. I can’t stand to think of Rae being cold because she got wet. Also I like the idea of keeping the stroller as dry as possible. That way Rae doesn’t get even more wet from having to sit in a damp seat. If the stroller stays dry, then we can use it later in the day if we need to instead of waiting for it to air dry.

A stroller rain cover is definitely a must have item for us.

NiGHTS Wii

Console games No Comments »

If i needed another reason to really want a Wii I have it. NiGHTS is coming to the Wii. The first NiGHTS Wii screenshots have been published.

I spent way too many hours playing NiGHTS into Dreams for the Sega Saturn. I was always trying to improve my grade by practicing flying as fast as I can while picking up all the bonus items. Using the Wii nunchuk controller should be very interesting in the NiGHTS game.

No word on a release date. I better hurry and get my Wii.

Recipe Contest

Although I stay at home with my daughter, I still feel the crunch of getting everything done around the house. One area that sadly gets neglect is cooking. We usually at least grab one meal on the go each week. It’s an unhealthy choice, and I would much rather replace it with a home cooked meal.

Magic Kitchen is a website that offers home cooked meals. Their website - www.MagicKitchen.com - lists their delicious creations that are prepared by chefs and then shipped directly to your doorstep. The food bundles include four meals and are about the price I spend on groceries. It would be much easier to order from Magic Kitchen than to deal with the crowd and confusion of the grocery store that’s for sure.

Right now Magic Kitchen is having a recipe contest. They are looking for your favorite family recipe. Submissions can be made until May 15th. Then all recipes will be prepared, frozen, and rethawed to test the dish’s ability to be packaged. The winner receives a $200 Magic Kitchen gift certificate, and the winning recipe will appear on their next menu. The results of the Magic Kitchen recipe contest will be announced May 31st.

A $200 gift certificate right before the Summer begins would be really nice. I’m hoping to avoid using the oven as much as possible this Summer. $200 would secure us plenty of meals, too. I’ll have to check the family recipe book for a possible submission.

Brought to you by Magic Kitchen.

Dreamblade Update

Way Off Topic No Comments »

No Dreamblade Tournament last night. But I did play my husband three times and won all three! That was cool, especially since he is so good at every game he tries. Maybe I have found one I can be good at.

My warband centers around the Brighthammer Avenger. He doesn’t have an attack but everytime he shifts into a cell gets to make six dice attack. Combine him with figures that have blade abilities that can move either engaged or unengaged ally, and he becomes way cooler.

It worked well last night but the real test will be against the local Dreamblade guru. He hasn’t lost a tournament yet. Maybe I can hold my own.

Magna Doodle for the PC

I bought a Magna Doodle second hand a few months back. I can’t pass up toys and now that I have a toddler I have the perfect excuse for picking them up. Rae is just shy of 18 months and has discovered the wonder that is the Magna Doodle.

She loves to draw a few lines then erase them. At first she struggled to move the bar to clear the writing surface but by the end of the day she was a master at it. Oh to be able to learn that quickly!

It got me to wondering if there was a Magna Doodle game or software for the computer. Ofcourse there is, and after more than a few Google searches, I found it through Amazon. She loves the computer and her Magna Doodle so I think the PC Magna Doodle will be a hit. It comes with a CD, and you use your mouse to make the magic happen.

I wish there was a demo, but I haven’t located one yet. I’m anxious to try it out now.

Sleep Problems

Way Off Topic No Comments »

My husband wakes up several times during the night, and it affects his overall sleeping experience. He wakes up tired and not feeling well rested. We have wondered for a while if he may have sleep apnea. I know people who have been diagnosed with sleep apnea and what improvements have been made in their sleeping routine.

There is a sleep lab in town that he can go to and get diagnosed. It probably will be something to check into in the near future. If he does have sleep apnea I know there will be a CPAP machine that will help him when he sleeps. CPAP stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. Those who suffer from sleep apnea stop breathing for a very short amount of time while sleeping. When they catch their breath, it can startle them awake. The CPAP machine makes sure there is always an air supply, so sleep apnea sufferers get a better night’s sleep.

You can buy CPAP machines and other sleep apnea products from CPAP Wholesale. Ofcourse, you need a prescription to buy one of the machines. Hopefully a visit to the sleep lab will answer some of our questions, and if we need a CPAP machine then we know where we can get one.

Dreamblade Warband

Way Off Topic No Comments »

There is a Dreamblade tournament tonight at our local gaming store. Last night we spent some time tweaking our warbands. I have warband mainly made up of Valor, with Brighthammer Avenger being at the center of the concept.

The supporting creatures have blade abilities of advance - move a non-engaged alley or skirmish - move a targeted engaged ally. Brighthammer Avenger doesn’t get to attack but gets to charge for six power every time he moves into a cell. It’s really nice, but a lot of the support warband winds up going to the graveyard since they aren’t really beefy.

I added a slaughterwheel into the mix. Although it’s not valor, it’s cool enough to have in the warband since the slatugherwheel’s blade ability is to the a blade ability of any creature in the graveyard. I also added Faceless Stalker who when she attacks you can roll up to 2 dice again. I need more of her because this would surely help to ensure getting a blade when I need it.

Hopefully I’ll do well. This will be my second tournament. The first tournament was my first time playing. Maybe I will improve upon that performance.

Caillou’s Theme Song

Way Off Topic No Comments »

We watch a lot of PBS in the morning. One show is Caillou. He’s four and has a younger sister. The story is mainly about him. It’s sort of cute but annoys me sometimes. Like today, Caillou gets ready to go out in the rain then realizes he has to go to the bathroom. On the way to the bathroom, he gets distracted by a car and begins to play with it. I know this is what kids do, and I will be experiencing this with my daughter I am sure.

Anyway, his theme song has always bugged me. There’s a line that goes “Growing up is not so tough..,” the next line I hear “sucks when I’ve had enough.” Actually the actual lyrics to Caillou’s theme song is “except when I’ve had enough.”

Makes me feel better that he isn’t saying “sucks.” Oh well. At least if the baby picks up the word “sucks” I can always blame it on Caillou!

Risk II at Yahoo! Games

Board Games, Games, PC Games No Comments »

The board game Risk was always a favorite game of ours to play when I was in college. It was so much fun. I haven’t played it in forever but when I found out that you can download a demo copy of Risk II, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to stroll down memory lane.

After playing Risk II, it reminds me how great this game really is. I may have to go buy the board game. No, wait. I already have it. I have the Lord of the Rings edition of Risk. Then why haven’t I been playing it? I really need to catalog my games sometime.

Risk II for the PC was a lot of fun. The graphics are cute, and I got some pretty good rolls while defending my territories. My strategy was bad going into the game. Next game I will know better.

My Idea of a Vacation

Way Off Topic No Comments »

Today on Oprah she had the winner of the HDTV Dream Home. The $2 million home is in Colorado and is more like a resort than a house. It was beautiful. I thought how great it would be to vacation and stay somewhere like the compared to a hotel or other tourist trap locale.

A Hawaiian vacation is more with my idea of a good time than a Colorado vacation. Hawaii is so beautiful, and it’s nice to know that ecotourism is being promoted. This way guests experience the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. The problem with great vacation spots is that they are usually crawling with hotels, restaurants, and other attractions that take away from the natural setting of a place. The beautiful Hawaiian Islands like Kauai should be enough for a wonderful vacation.

Kauai Ecotourism Vacation Rentals give visitors a chance to view the beauty of this Hawaiian Island in all its natural glory. A nice ocean view and a relaxing day lying on the beach is my idea of a good vacation. I go on vacation to escape the hustle of everyday life, not to run the rat race in another city. Simplicity and beauty of Kauai are all I need to ensure a great vacation.

At Hawaiian Beach Rentals, there is some beautiful locations listed. There are also reviews, rates, and other information that makes planning that Hawaiian vacation just a little easier.
