Playing games is a great source of relaxation for me. I’m not very competitive. I think my husband has enough competiveness in him for the both of us. Usually when I play games, I play one player games. When I’ve played competitive online games, I usually lose or if I win, then the losing player will leave the game.

How about a game structure where helping other players is part of the strategy? Winster - the Win-Win Game Site is an online gaming community that encourages players to help out other players. Picture Magic is a puzzle game on Winster where players spin for puzzle pieces. If you have a duplicate puzzle piece, then you can ask a player if they would like to trade pieces. This helps both players inch that much closer to their goal. While playing, you earn points when you solve a puzzle. If you have a repeat puzzle piece and no possible trade, then keep spinning for puzzle pieces until you either get your piece or a piece you can trade.

You can also win various prizes like movie tickets. You earn points playing and then can spend your points to buy rewards. To cash in on the rewards, you must join Winster. There is a two week free trial period but then you’ll have to pay a nominal fee. The membership cost depends on how much you want to play each day at Winster.

After playing for less than 10 minutes, I had enough points to get the free movie tickets through Fandango. I wll probably sign up for the free trial period as this is required to collect your prize. A matinee would be a nice break for me and the little one.

February 14 is CHD Awareness Day

News No Comments »

CHD is congential heart defects, and what better day to bring awareness to the day devoted to all matters of the heart. I have a nephew who has HPLHS, hypo-plastic left heart syndrome. Basically his left ventricle was too small, so he went through three surgeries beginning when he was only four days old to make his four chamber heart a two chamber one.

He spent a lot of time in the hospital but is doing well today. He had his first surgery at four days old. His second surgery was when he was 9 months old. His third surgery was when he was about 2 years old. After each surgery, there was a lot of recovery time. Since his third surgery, he has really blossomed. He is a very normal kid and can do a lot of things that his brothers can do. He is in kindergarten and was recently named student of the month, which he is thrilled about.

1 in 5,000 babies are born with HPLHS, and this is only one congential heart defect. You can learn more about CHD Awareness Day through the official website.
