Gaming Magazines

I’m always on the lookout for good magazines, especially gaming magazines. I enjoy Game Informer but also like ones that are more centered on one topic.

Besides finding a good magazine, I like to find good deals on magazine subscriptions. I found a nice deal on PSM through Mags Direct. Since I bought my PS2 in December, I really want to find some great games to play as well as learn all about the system. Mags Direct has some other gaming magazines like Xbox and Electronic Gaming Monthly. PSM looks like what I’m most interested in right now. It’s independent PlayStation news and reviews.

Mags Direct not only has a wide selection but a money back guarantee. You can save a lot of money with a magazine subscription. It’s also nice that the magazines come to you instead of having to purchase it at the store. Sometimes I have missed a copy because I waited too late or forgot to pick up a magazine. There’s less worry, and I can save money by subscribing to a magazine.

Brain Booster

Casual Games No Comments »

Being addicted to Brain Age for the Nintendo DS, I was eager to play the casual game Brain Booster. Brain Booster tests your brain with a variety of mind puzzle games from moving colored blocks to Sudoku. If you enjoy Brain Age, then Brain Booster will be a fun one to try.

Some of the games are similiar in concept to Brain Age. One deals with remembering how many objects are behind the brain as objects leave and more are placed behind it. There are several word and spatial games, too. One word game gives you two incomplete words and two letters. You must fill in the correct letter for each word to complete it.

You can play to for fun or for rankings. The ranking takes you through several puzzles and according to your score you can advance your rank. You start off with the rank pre-school. You have to earn at least 6000 points to advance. My first attempt I did not score enough points.

Brain Booster is fun and can also help to exercise your brain.

Birthday Parties for Kids

Way Off Topic No Comments »

My little one loves It’s Big Big World on PBS. It has a lot of songs, which she loves to “sing” along with. I was searching for some DVDs, CDs, or other Big Big World products.

I ran across this from PBSkids.org. It’s a page on throwing a Big Big World birthday party. Even though we are a while away from her birthday, I think this may be a great resource for planning it. We leave PBS tuned in most of the day, and it does a good job of keeping her entertained for a few minutes at least. It’s enough time for Mommy to take care of things that she needs to.

So, she will probably be into one of the shows on PBS by the time her birthday rolls around. Now, I finally have a good direction for throwing her birthday party.
