Apple’s iPhone

News No Comments »

We are in need of a new cellular phone. Since the announcement of the Apple iPhone, we have been intrigued by it. Here are some great pictures of the iPhone:

The iPhone is very feature rich. I like the touch screen controls that is built to ignore accidental touches. The battery life of the iPhone will last for 300 minutes of phone conversation. The iPhone looks to have it all: MP3 playback, PDA-like function, and a built in digital camera. The iPhone will also have downloadable games as well.

We may have to keep our current phones for a few more months since the iPhone isn’t due to hit the market until the summer.

Word Web Deluxe

Casual Games No Comments »

Word casual games are so much fun. Bookworm is one of my favorites. A brand new word game released today is Word Web Deluxe. Players create words from the web of letters on screen.

You make words that are at least 3 letters. Get rid of all the letters on the board. You want to clear letters before the spider spins her web on the letters.

A full demo is available for download. Word Web Deluxe retails for $19.99 and is available though Legacy Games.

Half.com success story

Way Off Topic No Comments »

I use ebay and Half.com to both buy and sell items. I will check Half.com for a product usually first then head to ebay. I remember when Half.com wasn’t owned by ebay. There are so many web success stories, and I find Half.com’s especially interesting since I have used the service.

Mark Hughes by thinking outside the box grew Half.com into the business it is today. Hughes convinced the town of Halway, Oregon to change their name to Half.com, Oregon. Hughes has written a book that Fast Company named as one of the best business reads of 2005. Hughes is now a professional speaker who travels telling others about his marketing techniques.

I may have to read his book. Someone who can convince a town to change their name might have something interesting to say.

Convert a real guitar to play Guitar Hero

Announcement No Comments »

Toolmonger has instructions on how to convert a real guitar to play Guitar Hero. A nice guitar was transformed into a Guitar Hero controller and was auctioned off with proceeds going to Child’s Play. His website is called Funde Razor and raised over $4,000 for the gamer’s charity that benefits childrens hospitals.

We enjoy Guitar Hero but not sure I want to tackle such a project. I have half finished projects scattered all over the house now. The size of the controller is a nice size for me but for a guitar player having a real guitar controller might be very enjoyable. That is if they can get past destroying a perfectly good guitar to make it.
