Backgammon

Board Games No Comments »

Backgammon is one of those games that I’ve owned for years and seldom play. Since everything is on the Internet these days, you can play backgammon online. I love playing games online. It’s a great way to always find someone to play with and learn the basics of a game.

The goal of backgammon is easy enough. Be the first to move all of your checkers to your home board and then move all of your checkers off the board. You roll dice to determine the moves that are available to you on your turn. The points are numbered on the board. Checkers always move from high to low numbers. If it sounds confusing, luckily most online backgammon websites allow you to watch games that are currently being played. This can be a great help in learning how to play backgammon.

SEO

Way Off Topic No Comments »

Search engine optimization is still a relatively new concept to me. Romperz is my fun casual game blog that I have only recently begun to actually try to “market” it. It’s great to post my thoughts and musings on games. It’s even greater to think that people will actually find my postings.

This is where search engine optimization becomes really important. I was a journalism major in college. I know you write differently depending on the media. Writing for the web has its own set of rules. It can be difficult to navigate a strategy on your own. Companies like USWeb aids webmasters in search engine optimization and other web services. The Internet can be a great tool to reach people.

Good content that is search engine friendly can help to drive traffic to your website. A lot of traffic comes from search engines so SEO becomes extremely important. I’m only beginning to learn what I need to know about Internet marketing.

Burger King Games

I heard something interesting the other day. Those $4 Xbox games at Burger King have sold over 2 million copies! I was surprised. I hadn’t realized that the games also were playable on the Xbox and not just the 360. I might have to pick up one even though the King really freaks me out. The sneak game looks somewhat interesting. For $4 it might be worth a try.

Maybe on principal since I think the King commercials are really disturbing that I shouldn’t buy any of the games. Curiosity will probably get the best of me, and I will buy at least one of the games.

The New Super Mario Brothers

I recently purchased the New Super Mario Brothers game for the DS. I forgot just how fun Mario can be.

While the game is upgraded from its humble original Nintendo platform, it still maintains all the fun and frustration of the title. It does make use to the touch screen. You can purchase access to special areas in the game and collect cool boosts that you can use at any point in the game by touching the screen.

I’m having lots of fun with this title. It’s great to have a DS again, especially since more games now make use to all the features of the DS.
