Silver Coins

Way Off Topic No Comments »

I have a few silver coins that I really like. They are comic book related and feature Rogue, Gambit, and Farchield(Gen 13). These silver coins are a cool momento of some of my favorite comic books while taking up little space. The coins also make great conversation pieces.

Because the coins were sort of an investment, I like to keep a check on the price of silver. Silver price will help me determine if the value of my coins fall, stays the same, or rises. Since silver is also my favorite precious metal, I’m interested in buying more silver coins and getting a paying a fair silver price for them. The Monex Desposit Company has been in business for 30 years, and you can buy silver from them to have it delivered or taken to a safe storage facility. Did you know that world demand for silver has exceeded annual production for the past 16 years? Gold may get a lot of attention, but silver deserves some of the spotlight, too.

A Great Gift for Brothers

Way Off Topic No Comments »

My brothers were typical brothers to me when we were kids. They would tell me tall tales, and ofcourse, I would believe every word they said because they were my brothers. One of my brothers has the not-so-nice nickname of “Turd.” His nephew has called him “Uncle Turd” on more than one occasion.

I’m so tempted to send him a ShizaGram. You can send a “turd” to someone. I can send it anonyomously so he’ll probably think it is from his brother and not his sister. I think I may Send a ShizaGram today and beat the holiday rush. He is always giving me fart joke cards for my birthday. I think if anyone can appreciate a Shizagram then it’s him.

Queens Knight

After reading the first volume of the manga Queens Knight, I hit a roadblock. I couldn’t find volume 2 in town. I had checked out volume 1 from the library and apparently that is the only one they have.

I was able to find it on Amazon at a great price. I ordered it and now can’t wait to get it. Queens Knight is a story about a young girl with overprotective brothers who visits her Mom in Germany. While in Germany, she has an accident and a knight from another land saves her. He makes her the Queen of his land. Now the girl is back at home but her knight visits her in her dreams. Yuna will have to decide between her life here or a life with her knight. It’s a page-turner; that’s why I’ve been frantically looking for volume 2. Maybe I should line up volume 3 now so I won’t be left waiting again.

The line starts here

While making our nightly trip to Wal-Mart, I noticed a sign on the door that said that the line for the PlayStation 3 will be at the other Wal-Mart. Sale of the PS3 will commence at 12am November 17th.

Tomorrow is the 16th, and I will have to go check out if there is actually a line that will form to buy the PS3. I’m sure there will be especially since Sony announced the production numbers for the PS3. I’ll try and remember the camera to snap a few pics.

Wii adds DVD Playback

Nintendo recently announced it has hired a company to add DVD playback functionality to the Wii. The CinePlayer CE DVD Navigator will support video and audio playback as well as feature some cool functions like widescreen, motion video, and different angle views.

Unfortunately, this feature of the Wii is not yet available. Expect it to be on Wii models late next year.

Mosaic Photo Service

Here is a great gift idea for anyone. You can create a custom photo gift that will surely become the center of conversation. A mosaic photo made up of several other photos is a great gift for Grandma, Aunts, or the neighbor down the street. Since we’ve had the baby, everyone wants a picture. A custom photo gift will not only give those folks a picture of the little one but a work of art. It’ll certainly be a photo that will be frame-worthy for years to come.

Wii Commercial

I saw a commercial last night for the Nintendo Wii. It featured two Japanese guys who drive up to someone’s house in the smallest car. It makes a Yugo look like a sedan. They hop out of the car, go inside, and play games on the Wii.

When the woman answers the door, the men say “Wii” then come on in and begin playing games that feature the motion detection controls. They bowl and play tennis with the Wii controller while using it to act out their moves. It was pretty cool. It was cool enough to make me rethink about getting a Wii for Christmas.

Nintendo Monopoly

Monopoly has a licensed game for many different things like colleges, Lord of the Rings, and countless others. Now add to the list Mario! I saw Nintendo Monopoly at the local bookstore tonight. Instead of fighting over who is the shoe or car, players can choose from Mario’s hat and a small Nintendo controller.

I’m not a big Monopoly fan as it takes way too long to play and have passed on buying any licensed Monopoly games. Mario Monopoly may be worth a closer look since the Italian plumber is one of my favorite gaming icons. My wish list is way too long this holiday season. It will have to be trimmed. Hopefully Mario and friends will make the cut.

International Search Engine

Ever wonder what is going on in others parts of the world and would like an easy way to search for what interests you? I do. A new international search engine is on the horizon. Megaglobe - International Search Engine will be available in 45 languages and represent the whole world. This is exciting. Imagine search results from around the globe. I always love to read news stories that happen in America in international publications. Their coverage of an American story is different from the American press and fun to read. How nice it’ll be to be able to search for specific subjects and find related links from around the world.

Megaglobe will also have Megaglobe ads that will be similar to Google ads. Unlike Google ads where the payout is generally low, Megaglobe promises a high commission for websites that run their ads.

Right now Megaglobe hasn’t officially been launched. If you visit Megaglobe you can enter your website for Megaglobe to index.

Casual Game for the PSP

The popular downloadable casual game Luxor is now available for the PSP. Luxor: Wrath of Set is an action puzzle game and will be released in November. Luxor because of its graphics reminds me of Zuma. After playing Luxor I am a fan. In fact, I might go as far as to say that I prefer it over Zuma.

With 124 levels through 20 challenging stages, Luxor should bring hours of entertainment to the household. Hopefully Luxor will find its way under the Christmas tree.
