PS3 Backward Compatibility

News No Comments »

The PlayStation 3 was released this past weekend in Japan. Apparently some PSOne and PS2 games are not working with the PS3. Sony has released a list of games that will not play on the PlayStation 3. The Japanese PlayStation.com lets a player check game title to see if it is compatible with the PS3.

Since I have sold all of my PSOne games and don’t have any PS2 games, I shouldn’t have too much to worry about with compatibility. My own worry is coming up with the money to buy a PS3.

Jumpin’ Jack Flash Drive

Way Off Topic No Comments »

My husband recently started a new job. He loves it. Now he has a desk, his own computer, and office supplies. He is very excited. Since he now has an office job, he wants to upgrade his flash drive so he can take some music to work. I’m thinking this will be a nice stocking stuffer since flash drives have become very reasonably priced.

Well, I have found a way to take the flash drive gift to the next level: personalization. Right now I can pick up some a great deal on flash driveat Pexagon Tech. I can also get free laser engraving. I think he’d really like it personalized with his name on it. He’s going to love his personalized flash drive. He might even like it better than the big ticket items I have planned for his Christmas.

A personalized flash drive would also make a good gift for those hard to buy for folks that you want to get something but aren’t quite sure what. I’m going to have to think about that one. I may be ordering a couple of flash drives for Christmas.

Child’s Play

Announcement No Comments »

Here is one of my favorite charities. It’s Child’s Play, and it was started by the folks at Penny Arcade in 2003. Child’s Play takes donations and donations of toys, then gives them to their partnered children’s hospitals. More hospitals are partcipating each year. You can even buy toys directly from places like Amazon and have them shipped to the hospital.

Child’s Play is a gamer’s charity and shows just how generous gamers can be. Too often gamers are shown in negative light when in reality they are just like everyone else and want to give back to the community. Giving toys to sick children at children’s hospitals is near and dear to my heart. My great nephew has hypo-plastic left heart syndrome and underwent 3 surgeries at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. Basically the left venticle of his heart was underdeveloped and the surgeries made his four chamber heart a two chamber one, bypassing the left side completely. He is doing great now thanks to the wonderful care he received at the children’s hospital.

Visit Childsplaycharity.org or Penny-arcade.com for more details and track their progress in reaching their $500,000 goal.

Best Buy Coupons

Since I’ve started making my Christmas list, I once again realize that my Christmas budget needs to be larger to accomodate everyone on my list. Luckily using coupons can save me a great deal of money and make my very strict Christmas budget go further. Finding coupon codes to some of the best online deals is easy through Coupon Chief. I’m amazed at what coupon codes I find everytime I visit the website.

I like to keep an eye on the Best Buy coupons since a lot of folks on my list would be thrilled with anything from Best Buy. Best Buy has some great incentives even before the official Christmas shopping season has begun.

I wish I was using the Best Buy coupon for free shipping of PS3 games. Sadly the PS3 is not on my wish list. If the rumors about Sony’s production woes are true, then the PS3 might be in short supply this holiday season anyway. Best buy does have a coupon for free shipping of MP3 players including iPods. An iPod is on the Christmas list. There may be a Best Buy coupon I can use afterall.

Little Leaps Grow-with-me Learning System

Kid Games No Comments »

I think of the Little Leap Grow-with-me Learning System as my child’s first video game. It is from Leapfrog and works with special DVDs. This is on top of the Christmas list for our little girl. I’m sure she’ll like it because the controller has two sides: one for babies and one for toddlers. The toddler side is a little more sophisticated. I can’t wait for her to play with it.

She’ll probably still go for the Xbox controllers, though. Hopefully her own “game system” will help to occupy her while I play my video games. A girl can dream anyway.
