Halloween Aftermath

Way Off Topic No Comments »

It’s the day after Halloween. All Saints Day. We have way too much candy this year. Again, no trick or treater yesterday. The baby took a long nap and slept through Zoo Boo, the event at the local zoo we were going to attend. Apparently they set a record with the number of people who came to the event. Glad I missed the crowd. The baby did go to sleep fairly early, so we got a chance to play Marvel Ultimate Alliance, which I mentioned in another post.

I did dress her in her costume. She is El Seed, a villian from The Tick comic book.

As I have mentioned before, I love racing video games. In fact, I love all things racing. I’ve only been to the local racetracks but would enjoy seeing some bigger races live.

Muscle cars are also a passion of mine. I had a 1966 Ford Mustang that was my baby before the little one came along. Now that I no longer have the Mustang, I am content for now to watch muscle cars on television.

A Muscle Car Marathon will air Nov. 24 at 9am EST on Speed TV. So, once you get your quota of football on Thanksgiving Day, enjoy the Muscle Car Marathon Friday. Check out my muscle. Reminds me I need to go to the gym.

This post is sponsored by Speed TV. The content of the post is all mine.

Futurama

After reading about how hard it was to find the video game Futurama, I ran across it at Gamestop for the Xbox. So, I had to get it. The reviews are mixed for it. Gamers complain about the controls while fans of the game enjoy the extra Futurama story.

I’ve only been able to play in the first level. I can see how the controls are frustrating. When you have to interact with an object, you must be standing at an exact location instead of a general area. Moving the camera took a some getting use to.

So far I’m enjoying the game. I have heard that it is nearly impossible to pass the fourth level. We’ll see how it goes.

I can see clearly now

I wear glasses and hate them. I’m near-sighted and have wanted to get Lasik done for years. Now my husband has a new job that will cover part of the cost of the procedure. This gives me great hope that maybe one day I will be free from glasses.

Now I need to start doing research in finding a Lasik doctor and know exactly what to expect from the procedure. USAeyes.org has some great information and a list of certified Lasik doctors. I was surprised to learn that I will have to travel to find a certified doctor. We live in a very medical-minded community. I’m glad I know that now because I feel fairly certain that at least one doctor in town offers Lasik.

How much fun will it be to watch movies, play video games, and play on the computer without having to rely on glasses. I’ll have to start my Lasik fund today.

First Impression of Marvel Ultimate Alliance

I was a little disappointed when I found out that there are only 20 playable characters in the game while the others are npcs. When I got over that, I settled in and played Spider-Man for a while. I then switched to The Thing. In fact, we switched the team to the Fantastic Four and received a special health bonus. We’re going to try and assemble other team to see what happens.

The gameplay is very similar to X-Men Legends. It has been simplified. The graphics are better and special abilities seem to play out on screen better to the character.

I can’t wait to play again. I’ll write more of a review once we played a little longer.
