13 Posts of Halloween: Halloween Lights

Way Off Topic No Comments »

Something caught my attention recently driving around at night. I noticed something had lights on their house. I was thinking it is way too early for Christmas lights. Then as we approached the house, we noticed they weren’t Christmas lights but Halloween lights. All the lights were orange and shaped into something relavent to Halloween like a pumpkin.

I’ve seen more Halloween light since that night. For years people have been decorating their yard with Halloween themes. I remember the first year someone put up the witch flying into a tree. I guess it was inevitable that lights would be added to the decorations.

Review your Doctor

When I was pregant, I didn’t think too much about which pediatrician we would use. I thought I had plenty of time to think about it. That was until the baby came early. At the hospital they made our first ped appointment, so we had to come up with a name really fast.

We went with Dr. Parvin because he is the doctor my niece uses with her son. The Pediatric Clinic is a great practice with many great doctors including Dr. Burks. We’ve seen Dr. Burks when Dr. Pavin was booked. I had heard that the Pediatric Clinic was a good practice because they offer afterhours appointments and a 24 hour on-call center.

Thank goodness I was able to find out about which doctors other Moms have used. Sometimes choosing a doctor can be a daunting task. That’s why websites like Vimo are so useful. They give people a chance to review their doctor and share their experience. Right now they are offering a free t-shirt for your review of your doctor.

Sega Saturn

Today we spent a good majority of the day cleaning our storage space. Most of the stuff we are getting rid of, but we are finding a gem here and there of things we want to keep.

My husband ran across a cache of Sega Saturn games. I had bought a Sega Saturn instead of the Sony PlayStation for 1 game that was suppose to be exclusive to the Saturn. Well, it wasn’t and didn’t come out for the Saturn until 6 or so months when it was promised. I’ve kept the Saturn. In fact, it is on our entertainment center right above the Xbox and just right of the television.

Finding the games and pondering over some of the titles including Warcraft, my husband insightfully says that this makes him want to buy a Saturn. Men can be so oblivious sometimes. I reminded him that in fact we do have a Saturn that is plugged up and ready to play. I have a feeling he’ll be playing Warcraft sometime this weekend on the old school Saturn.

A voice for your video game

I’ve scratched the surface of doing voice work. I’ve done a few voice overs for some local television commercials. It can be a lot of fun. I’d love to do some podcasts or eventually my own video game. I’m definitely sure I do not want to lend my voice to either project.

There are websites where you can find professionals to do voice overs for your multimedia project. The podcast will probably be my first multimedia project. Now I know where I can get some help if I need it.

Wits and Wagers

Wits and Wagers board game combines poker and trivia. It’s a great party game. Up to 21 people can play. Players are asked a series of seven questions. After each question, they guess the answer. Then the answers are placed on the board. Players make their wager on which answer they think is correct or the closet without going over. All answers are a numeric value. If you win the bet, then you win the payout listed on the board, and if it’s your answer your earn extra chips. After the seven rounds, the person or team with the most poker chip value wins the game.

Wits and Wagers is great fun and is a great game for non-gamers. Easy to learn but hard to stop from playing.

Gaming and Job Stress

I use the Payperpost service. I get paid to blog, which is a great thing. It has helped me pay my bills and also have a little spending money. As a new business and with few employees, the job of their employees is not doubt stressful. Video confessionals are now being released of Payperpost employees who are getting a few things off their chest.

The first employee is the lovable Flaming Tamale. If you read the Payperpost blog then you know how witty and funny she can be. In her confessional, the Tamale sounds a very stessed out. Maybe she should play more video games? One of the most stressful periods in my life was made a lot easier thanks to the video games, especially Mortal Kombat. Oh how wonderful it was to come home and have a virtual punching bag. I don’t know if I ever properly thanked my friend who introduced me to Mortal Kombat. Maybe I should send the Tamale a care package of vitamin water and Mortal Kombat. Sort of a Pay it Forward thing.

Here is a cute online game with a Halloween theme. You are a ghost, and it’s your job to scare the trick or treaters. You can snatch up their treats for bonus points. Avoid pitfalls like “walking into the light” to stay in the game.

Sword Collecting

My husband currently has no big swords but has always wanted to collect them. Since there isn’t too much that he really asks for, I’m thinking about starting his collection this Christmas. There are so many types of swords that it can be overwhelming to know what to get. I guess I need to start doing a little reasearch now so when I am prepared to buy I will know what I want.

Since he loves the Middle Ages, I’m thinking of buying a Medieval sword. Also knowing how he likes to horse around I’m tempting to pick up a couple of wooden swords so no one gets hurt during horseplay. That would be a difficult injury to explain at the emergency room and might get us into trouble.

Since his birthday is really close to Christmas, I will have two opportunities to get him a sword as a gift. I better start on that research soon.

Illbleed for the Sega Dreamcast is a frightfully fun game. The lead role is a girl looking for her friends in a haunted movie complex. This is one of my favorite games for the Dreamcast. It’s creative, slightly scary, and is just fun to play. This is why I love Dreamcast so much is that there are so many great games for it that are not out there for other consoles.

Neckties with Personality

My husband recently got a new job. The dress code is casual business attire, which means his current wardrobe really doesn’t fit the bill. We did some shopping to get him some new clothes.

He really wants to wear neckties on occasion. Most of his ties are nice but outdated. I thought it’d be fun to find some ties that are stylish, sleek, and even fun. If they have a casual Friday, there are plenty of cute ties on the market today. Just a quick glance and I found several that would fit his personality like a Spider-man tie or Superman tie. Since he will be a computer programmer, a computer-themed necktie at Tieguys.com would just be too adorable. He probably wouldn’t think so but I would.

There are plenty of choices and styles of neckties. We have fun shopping for clothes. I’m sure we’ll have just as much fun shopping for ties.
