G-Pad Game Controller

Console games No Comments »

One of my favorite genres of games is racing. I hate to use the standard game controllers to play them. It’s cumbersome and feels unnatural. I do so much better with a steering wheel than with the gamepad. There are also some other games especially flight simulators that work better with a special controller. The drawbacks to the specialty controllers is cost and then storage. It’s easy to play a small gamepad on top of a console but bigger controllers take up more room.

Here’s one Playstation controller or gamepad that works well for any game. The G-Pad Pro Gyroscopic Gamepad helps to decrease hand fatigue and improve the overall playing experience of some games. It uses a gyroscope so when you tilt or move the controller then you move on screen. Take a look at the video of the G-Pad in action:

There is a version for the PS2 and also for the PC. You can turn off the motion sensor on the controller. No special games are needed to take advantage of this feature. It works with most games on the market.

I have never been completely satisfied with my PC gamepad. This may be a purchase I need to make or at least drop some hints since Christmas is fast approaching. (It’s 55 days away you know)

Some trick or treat safety tips:

When trick or treating make sure to trick or treat during the hours according to your city.

Wear light clothing. If you are walking in a neighborhood, wear something reflective so you are easily spotted.

Bring a flashlight.

Trick or treat homes or an area you know. Check candy for tampering.

Go trick or treating at your local mall or other designated spot. Our local zoo has Zoo Boo for kids to play games and get treats.

Have fun!! Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween!

Swap those video games

We have quite a few video games. We usually rotate out what we don’t play. Sometimes I sell on ebay, but it would be nice to trade what I don’t want for something I do want.

Titletrader is a community where you can do just that. Not only can you find video games but other media like books, cds, and DVDs. Listed under video games are some titles that I’m interested in. The video games on Titletrader are also for older consoles like PlayStation and Dreamcast. It can be harder to find games for older systems at a reasonable price. Users earn points from trades and then can use those points to request items. Sounds like fun. I need to cull some video games and DVDs anyway.

13 Posts of Halloween: The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is one of my favorite holiday cartoons. I love to quote Linus and say “I got a rock.” The little one is still too young to enjoy cartoons but next year she should really like them. I also like the watch the Great Pumpkin because it signals the start of the winter holidays.

The holiday season is such a great time of the year. In the South, we finally get some relief from the heat before the cold winter sets in. I love all the baking, shopping, and good will that this time of year brings. Charlie Brown always kicks off the season for me.

Urban Fonts

I love fonts. Maybe it is a throwback to my time in television. I was “Super Girl,” or the more technical term of font operator. I use to know a lot of font names and could easily recognize a font by just looking at it.

I still enjoy downloading interesting fonts to use on my computer. One interesting website I recently found is Urban Fonts. At Urban Fonts, you can download free fonts and free dingbats. I like to use different styles of fonts especially when creating handouts for Sunday School or some project.

Working with different fonts on a project can not only make it stand out but can allows you to inject your own personality into it.

Less Support for UMD

When I got my PSP, I bought a couple of movies for it. While for the most part I consider it a novelty, the UMD movies should help to entertain the little one if no other purpose.

I had noticed lately on advertisements that a lot of movies are not coming out on UMD format. I did a little research and found this article from earlier this year talking about how some movie studios are cutting back or eliminating their support for UMD.

I guess this was inevitable and a lesson Sony should have learned with BetaMax. Oh well. UMD movies really didn’t fit into the equation of why I wanted a PSP. Maybe less support will mean the UMD movies will finally come on down in price.

New Round of Ninja Battles

A new round of Ninja Battles has begun. The round is 100 days long. The top players at the end of the round win cash prizes.

I played in the last round. The admins have made a lot of improvements to the game and continue to do so. They are also pretty quick to help with any problems. The game is a lot of fun and takes only a few minutes to playtime a day. Be sure to read the FAQ as there is some good advice. Also use the shout box to ask questions of other players. They are very helpful.

I’ve never played Castlevania but have a friend who loves it. A 20th anniversary edition is coming out in December for the Nintendo DS of this classic game. EB Games has a special bonus offer with the game that includes a soundtrack and artbook. It might make a good gift for someone who loved the original Castlevania.

A couple of websites that discuss Castlevania:

The Inverted Dungeon

Enjoy!
