A Game of Thornes
Board Games October 12th, 2006This week I was introduced to the board game A Game of Thornes. I’m not a big strategy board gamer. In fact, Risk is the most strategic board game I have ever played. I’m always willing to give games at least a try.
I knew the game might be complicated when my friend asked another friend to help him set up the board. I find setting up a Monopoly board a lot of work. Monopoly has nothing on A Game of Thornes. There are plenty of game pieces that have to be sorted, stacked, and shuffled. After a good ten minutes of set up time, it was time to begin the game. I think the explanation of how to play the game actually took longer than the game. Maybe that is a slight exaggeration, but rules took a while to go over and not everything was covered. It is especially hard to pay close attention with a one year old vying for your attention.
The game was a lot of fun. Once play began the rules, while many, are quite simple and straightforward to follow. Next time I will have more of a clue as to how to play.
