A Game of Thornes

This week I was introduced to the board game A Game of Thornes. I’m not a big strategy board gamer. In fact, Risk is the most strategic board game I have ever played. I’m always willing to give games at least a try.

I knew the game might be complicated when my friend asked another friend to help him set up the board. I find setting up a Monopoly board a lot of work. Monopoly has nothing on A Game of Thornes. There are plenty of game pieces that have to be sorted, stacked, and shuffled. After a good ten minutes of set up time, it was time to begin the game. I think the explanation of how to play the game actually took longer than the game. Maybe that is a slight exaggeration, but rules took a while to go over and not everything was covered. It is especially hard to pay close attention with a one year old vying for your attention.

The game was a lot of fun. Once play began the rules, while many, are quite simple and straightforward to follow. Next time I will have more of a clue as to how to play.

Life is just a Fantasy

Being a huge gamer and mildly competitive, I love anything that has game attached to it. That’s why when I ran across Fantasy Life Game, I was more than a little intrigued. FantasyLifeGame.com is a unique mixture of social networking and fantasy sports. With Fantasy Life Game, you “compete” in a fantasy league with your friends and earn or lose points set up by the rules you make.

My friend is always talking about earning a Man Badge when he does something handy around the house. The Man Badge is a throwback to the Boy Scouts that when you would do something like make a fire, you would earn a badge. This website would be perfect for him to develop a fantasy league with friends and carry out the Man Badge concept to it’s fullest potential.

Fantasy Life Game sounds like a fun concept. My friends are pretty competitive, so I’m sure they will be game to give it a try.
