Gametap reaches milestone

Gametap.com is a game portal to play hundreds of titles from the past. Gametap announces they now have 600 titles in their collection.

Gamers pay a monthly fee and play all the games they like.

600 titles means a lot of choices. Gametap does offer one of my all-time favorites, Streets of Rage. I wish I still had my Sega Genesis just for that game. Some fun memories come up after looking through their list of games.

Back to School

I always looked forward to summer break but by August I was ready to go back to school. Shopping for new clothes and new school supplies were always a highlight of going back to school.

There are many kids who do not have the school supplies they need and generous teachers who pick up the slack to make sure these kids have what they need in class. One great website I found where you can find just what teachers need for their classroom is iloveschools.com. You can search for teachers in your local community or alma mater and find out their classroom needs.
School furniture and other classroom needs are found at bizchair.com. You can find what teachers need then find those supplies online. The selection is great, so it is more likely you’ll find what you need to help out a teacher. It’s so simple to help out and to give back to your community.

Maddenoliday in Madden, MS

To celebrate the release of Madden 07 for the Xbox 360, today has been declared a Maddenoliday in the small town of Madden, MS. This town with a population of 74 will burst at the seams today as NFL greats such as Marhsall Faulk and Jerry Rice are in town for all the festivities.

Each resident will receive their own Xbox 360 and a copy of Madden 07. Too bad I’m not a resident.

House for Kim

I’ve been thinking lately how to afford a home of our own, and I’ve found some inspiration through the Internet. Houseforkim.com is selling advertising pixels that will help finance Kim’s house. You can learn all about Kim and her quest for home ownership through her blog. Kim is also looking for a man, too.

Pixels have become a hot Internet commodity since the guy made a million bucks selling them. Pixel property is for sale in Kim’s house. It’s strangely intriguing and surprisingly entertaining to read who is buying pixels in Kim’s house. I may have to grab up my own spot of pixel space.

Fate of Beverly Drive In Unknown

News 1 Comment »

The Bevery Drive In is a landmark in Hattiesburg, MS. The drive in had been closed down but reopened a few years back, showing double features each night expect for Christmas. That was until Hurricane Katrina. The two screen drive in suffered a lot of damage. The owner has no plans to repair the drive in because the costs are too great. It is estimated it’ll take $100,000. She is probably looking to sell the place.

The Beverly has a great story. The family that owns it also live on the grounds. I wish I had the resources to do something with the theatre because it sure deserves to be repaired and enjoyed. I was so looking forward to taking our daughter to the drive in. Maybe someone or a group with deep pockets will realize the potential of the theatre and take on the project of renovating it.

If you have never been to a drive in, if you ever get the chance, go to one. It’s a wonderful way to watch a movie.

I got paid

I have found a way to make money on the Internet with my blog, and I’m not going to charge to tell you my sucess story.

I was turned on about a month ago to a new web site, www.payperpost.com, which posts blogging opportunities for bloggers. Simply post about these various products, services, etc. and get paid. I was skeptical but was intrigued by some of the blogging opportunities.

I’m proud to report that I’ve been paid $34 so far and have another nearly $50 coming to me. The extra money is coming in handy. Once I do something responsible with it like pay a bill, I might treat myself to a new video game.

Blog advertising is a great way to truly make money from the Internet and have some fun.

Guitar Hero

Guitar Hero sounds like a fun game for the PS2. Hang up that air guitar and show your skills with this game which judges you on how many notes you hit. Almost sounds like DDR but with a guitar.

My brother apparently was recently introduced to this game. He is not a gamer but a rocker. He really enjoyed the ZZ Top selection the game has. Apparently his performance was pretty entertaining. I’m sorry I missed it.

If I ever get a PS2, this may be a title that I must check out at some point.

Nascar 07

One of my favorite genres of game is racing, and one of my favorite sports is racing. I’ve been a Nascar fan ever since I listened to Nascar as part of my college internship at a radio station way back in the early 90’s. Thanks to SPEEDtv, I can watch all the Nascar action.

EA Sports is releasing Nascar 07 September 6, 2006. Can’t wait to play this one. Racing games are definitely my strong suit and my husbands weakness. It’ll be great to beat him at something again.

I’m happy to say I was a Nascar fan long before the sport became so popular. I’m glad it’s growing in popularity because it is really enjoyable to follow and root for your favorite driver(s).

YouTube of video games?

News No Comments »

Apparently Microsoft is looking to release a stripped down version of their game development tool to retail for $99. This will allow anybody to create their own games for the Xbox 360. They are hoping to create the same kind of fever for game developing like YouTube did for video creations.

I like the idea, especially if the program is easy to use. Ofcourse, since it is a Microsoft product I would suspect that it will be fairly straightforward. The XNA Game Studio Express will have everything to make a video game work. The pro version runs thousands of dollars. It’ll be interesting to see how many features $99 will buy.

Job searching

Way Off Topic No Comments »

Since many casual gamers are starving college students, I thought it’d be nice to showcase a website dedicated to helping you find a job. Landing that first job or internship in college can be frustrating. Conducting an entry level job search can be a lesson in futility. The process can be easier and more fruitful by using website like CollegeRecruiter.com. Find your job through one of the channels to see current job listings. This can be the most frustrating part of job searching is finding results relevant to your field. With CollegeRecuiter.com just those ads for a specific career are listed. This will definitely save you time when looking through job ads.

Landing an entry level job is hard enough. It shouldn’t be difficult to find them and with CollegeRecruiter.com, with just a few clicks and you’ll find what you need.
