Our laptop isn’t really a good machine for gaming since it is old by computer standards. I’ve noticed that more people seem to be turning to laptops for their gaming needs as well as general computing–making laptops even more valuable. This is why when your laptop needs repair it can be an agonizing process. That’s why it’s important to find someone who will diagnose the problem and be able to fix it pronto. One problem with laptops that is often reported back to the owner that it can’t be repaired or unnessary parts are needed to fix it is a broken power jack. A broken power jack can cause problems like the battery won’t charge or the power cord only works in a certain spot. The folks at Absolute Raleigh have been doing laptop power jack repair for years. Fixing your broken power jack will get you back to playing your favorite games in no time.

Favorite Platform Character

I’m a huge fan of the platform games. Sonic, Crash, and Mario are the stars of the games that I really enjoy. It’s hard for me to pass up a game with a cute, adorable character as the lead.

My overall favorite has to be Crash Bandicoot. He’s just too goofy and cute not to be at the top of my list. Another favorite is Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. This lovable Aussie not only has an adorable accent but fun adventures as well.

Currently I’m playing Kao Challengers for the PSP. Kao is a kangaroo and apparently has been around for quite some time. Not sure how I missed this cute little guy until now. Kao Challengers looks to be a port of Kao the Kangaroo Round 2. The playable demo of the game can be downloaded from www.kao-kangaroo.com.

Platform games are great for the casual gamer. They are fun, feature lovable characters, and are easy to put down since there are usually many save areas.

Choosing the Right Controller

Over at electronics.newbie.org are some really helpful articles for well–newbies. I’m in the market for some new video game controllers since we have a baby who is very mobile we’re looking for some good wireless controllers.

Newbie.org has a whole section just on Video Game Controllers. It’s helpful to have so many reviews of controllers and related products in one spot. After much consideration, we’re going to take the advice at Newbie and go with wireless controllers made by the video game manufacturer. Also by using Newbie we can find the best deal for our new controllers, too.

Some of the most beloved games for the Sega Genesis are coming out on one disc for the PSP. There will be 28 games with another three easter egg(hidden) games on the disc.

Included will be Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, and Golden Axe I, II, and III. The Genesis Collection will also be available for the PS2. It will be fun to play some of my favorite Sega games on my PSP. Sega makes entertaining and compelling games, if only their consoles were as popular.

Puzzle Solitaire

Puzzle Solitaire is an inventive twist on the old PC favorite Solitaire. Take the basics of Solitaire, mix together with puzzle boards and you have Puzzle Solitaire. Each level has a puzzle board represented by a picture with squares drawn on it. The squares represent markers for cards. Cards can be placed onto the board only if they are in sequential order of one of the cards they are next to. Two modes, Arcade and Classic, mix up the fun of this addictive game.

There is a demo version available for download. It gives you an hour of play. This game is so fun that you’ll want to make sure you have some time on your hands before playing.

PSP Demos

The latest firmware upgrade for the Sony PSP allows for video game demos to be downloaded and played. While the selection is very limited–as there is only one game available–this feature has great potential.

Demos for consoles and handhelds are harder to come by than demos for the PC. PC demos are easily downloaded but such is not the case for the console counterparts. Usually to get demos you have to buy a magazine that has a special promo disk with it. Sometimes I have received demos from the Sony Underground, but it’s been for the PlayStation.

The one demo available, LocoRobo, is fun to play. It reminds me of the Partridge family, might be due to the singing. LocoRobo is different, quirky, and has interesting gameplay. Worth checking out though.
