Texas Sen. Juan ?Chuy? Hinojosa would like to see a 5% tax added to video games. The money would go to Texas schools and would be $65 million every two years.

I can understand the ideology of the luxury tax on items like yachts but to tax video games? While gamers may be growing up, there are still plenty who are young who buy video games. It doesn’t take long for 5% to really add up to a small budget.

If this makes it through, look for every state in the Union to try something similar. I’m all for funding education but not for making children pay for it with their allowance.
